Welcome to my new year's start!

Yes, I awoke this morning, alive and well, OK not really well, but alive and it was bright and early, the time was six A.M.
On first appearance it could have become a day with much promise, this first day of my new year, but unfortunately that was not to be.
We had been dealing with our five year old Bichon Frise, Skipper’s skin irritation of one week’s times annoyance to him, which we had been treating with his medicated shampoo and a half of a Benedryl morning and night that the vet doc had recommended when it occurred previously. He now was showing that his tummy was producing his frequently chronic colicky pain as well. When this occurs he squirms in circles on the ground and often lets out nasty little squeals of pain.
It is unnerving to anyone who might hear it, and the recommendation for this problem is a half of Pepcid twice a day, and so we tried that and it did not work. The last resort after all was said and done is to contact the veterinarian who we also do not have insurance for to cover this, but we felt we had no other choice. And sure enough, bring him in was the only resolution answer, and so we did.
We are going the food allergy route said the doc, but she is also feeling that he might have pancreatitis, but I looked that up, yes, the dog version, and that says he doesn’t meet that criteria at all, what was she thinking, perhaps she thought he was me, (but I don’t eat greasy foods either!) he does not eat greasy people food and he is not obese at 16 pounds for his breed! When he eats people food it is usually frozen veggies, and did I mention that he loves raw carrots? And so he is now on non allergenic food very expensive, and he got a steroid shot, but his neck has not grown yet, and did I mention he is also on an anti-spasmodic, sound familiar…those last two do, don’t they?
When I first awoke I found a lovely right on target worded hallmark card from my hubby. Then I went on the computer and two of my cousins had sent happy birthday greetings, and later on before we were to leave for the vet appointment our canal neighbors’ home in Canada emailed their well wishes for my birthday too on their own holiday of Canada Day. On the way home from the vet’s office our eldest called with his birthday greeting and said that ATT was having difficulties all day, and he couldn’t get through earlier when he had tried several times. We never did get to go out for lunch or dinner, but hubby picked up take out from one of our around the corner restaurants that we both like; so all was not lost.
And one of our favorite reality shows began again last week, America’s Got Talent, and is on twice a week, again tonight so it will wind down to a pleasant one after all.
Good night to all and to all count those blessings and I will too!
