I bet you didn't know...

This I found interesting today, did you know that when you give a small donation to a nonprofit organization that you are their client?
I did not know that, I thought my couple of bucks was just my way of helping them help people with a certain illness or need, and this one happened to be one of my own ills.
I almost made a fool out of myself, because I nearly wrote back to dispute it explaining that I thought that when you were a client that was a legal term between you and your relationship with a for profit business transaction on a regular basis, I guess I was wrong and I decided to let it go.

You see, they emailed me a survey and called me a client making me feel so obligated to fill it out like we had this long history together. I wrote back questioning that relationship of client and what…
In reality I never signed any contract, in my opinion we aren’t betrothed to one another, did I really have to fill it out because I was their ‘client’?
Answer: Oh, no you don’t, I told myself, and I didn’t. I belong to no one that hasn’t wined and dined me first, so there! And I pretty much hate surveys, so there is my justification, and this is America and I am part of our free society and I don’t have to do anything I don’t want to unless it is unlawful to not do it, and it isn’t, I think.

Obligation should be a four letter word; you know why I say that because it makes a person feel so dirty to have to do something…not because they want to be nice and they desire to feel happy to do it, but because it is expected of them as an obligation, ugh! See, say it slowly and it even sounds like a dirty word; ob- li- ga-tion, even the definition fringes on being a debt, another negative term, and oh so much a sign of the times.

Did you know that in some cultures that an obligation could be considered as illegal as Blackmail?
Yes, when someone holds the ‘OBLIGATION’ over your head to be their friend or for a favor to be repaid?
Parents were the first to stumble on this way of keeping their children in check; another name for it which we all may know is the unspoken marvel that makes grown men and women shake in their shoes…it is called GUILT. You tag-team the two together and boy what a pair, how many of you out there have been back ended by the two and found yourself pleading to do whatever anybody asked of you?

On those little pearls of wisdom and concern for our human beings just being, I will bid you all a good night and to all count those blessings and I will too!
