Today is another sad anniversary the 45th of the assasination of JFK

I'm sure anyone who was alive on that fateful day will remember that day forever, 45 years ago today.
I do; our President John Fitzgerald Kennedy and his wife, our first lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy were riding in a convertible in a motorcade with Texas Governor Connolly and his wife through Dealey Plaza in Dallas.
The initial news came over our PA systems in our classrooms at junior high. I was in my eighth grade math class, and we really thought at first it was an educational radio show on the Lincoln assassination.
We were sent home early that day. And the TV news kept showing the shooting over and over from different angles.
It was the first time I think that the TV news used film footage of something so horrendous in that way. And no that footage over and over again did not cause the numbness we all experienced I truly believe it was the horror of disbelief. Harsh reality frightening to a 13 year old who knew this was not Hollywood created.

Everywhere you went people were crying.
Everyone you knew was in disbelief, and shock.
Sadly my friend's father died the very next day of a heart attack; it was a horrible time in history and for everyone.

In recent times the only equally horrifying experience I can think of is watching those planes hitting the Twin Towers on 9/11/01 over and over again can compare.

Lee Harvey Oswald killed our president from the book depository, the murderer was fairly quickly captured, and was killed on TV by Jack Ruby a bar owner, and that too was played over and over again.

Today it was another pleasant weekend day; weather wise, but it was my day off from walking. I take the weekends off.
Our day consisted of the usual: How-to-shows, laundry, cleaning, and just plain relaxing were all on the forefront for this day.

Fortunately, the Stock Market was closed today, so no news either way today, a somewhat mild a relief.

Retail sales are already plummeting which is not looking good at all for retailers this holiday season, but we all knew that it was coming. It’s hard to think of buying frivolous things when necessities are difficult to take care of, unemployment keeps going up, and so do most prices.

I sure hope the children will understand and learn an important lesson of what is truly important, family and friends.
In the olden days people made gifts for one another when times were tough, even when they weren’t.
Baking cupcakes, cookies, and making decorations, playing board games or cards, renting movies are great together memories, and not too expensive.
We were told as children to put on our thinking caps to solve problems or come up with ideas, and I bet if you tell your young ones to do that they will come up with their own ideas too. No harm in trying, children love to help.

Good night to all and to all put on your thinking caps.
