Whirlwind day!

First thing I did was turn on the computer to make my hubby a today birthday card; I had given him one on Thursday when our son was here but today is his actual birthday and I felt an unwarranted obligation to start his day off celebratory. I say unwarranted not because he doesn't deserve it, but because he doesn't expect it; and so I did it.
Then I fed all outdoor critters.

I finally got out for my walk this morning around 7:30 A.M.
The weather was cool, 56 degrees and dry; it had been 49 when I awoke before seven.
On my return, as we sat drinking our coffee outside on the patio I made a proclamation stating that because today was his birthday, and we were out of eggs and therefore the power to create a special breakfast that we should go out for this very important beginning meal of the day, and he agreed.
I also declared that we should just go wherever we desired after, play it by ear to have some fun.
And so we ate our fancy non homemade breakfast at the local eatery and continued on our merry ways.
It was great that we happened upon gas for just $1.99 a gallon on our journey; we were now down between ¾ and half a tank so we had to top it off.
We traveled on to the next city to a major boating supply and fishing gear store with hopes that my darling might see a gift idea for us to purchase.
The store was quite amazing, rather large in size; sort of the boaters answer to Ron Jon’s Surf Shop on the east coast of Florida.
A two story magnificent adventure for any parent with surfers in the family, and we had two; you name it and they had it.
Unfortunately, my hubby saw nothing he needed or wanted but it was fun to look all the same.

Slight interruption just occurred we had to go outside since the local news just told us that the space shuttle Endeavor was over our heads, in the sky that is; docked at the space station. The night is so clear and crisp that you actually could see it, yep really!
Now my hubby is insisting that they did it for his birthday, aw I’ll give it to him…it’s those small things that give you a moment to stop and take pause at what really counts in life, and what’s really enough.
Today, as often that I have found in this last half of our journey I do have my flashes of clarity of ideas of what truly does count and spew my thoughts and opinions openly to the public at largely usually younger members of our society like today in that store.
I told the young sales girl that my husband was there to try and find a birthday gift but alas he felt he wanted or needed for nothing, and I said I suppose that is a good thing, and I apologized to her for the loss of a sale.
Another sample of my spewing:I am learning as I get older anytime you have a dollar more than you need you are rich, which means you have enough.

We ended the day with me making my husband his favorite Mom’s meal, Rolladen, and he was a very happy man; later on we will finish the last two slices of his mini double chocolate birthday cake and low fat vanilla ice cream ( a slight hypocritical delight) that we ate with our eldest son on Thursday and will devour later on.

Good night to all and to all look up; you never know what you may see.
