I did write for the Sun Herald, a local paper that is a subsidiary of the New York Times, fairly regularly in the late nineties and early 2000s!
Before that, I had many opinion pieces published in The Record in NJ.
Thus, some of my writer's chops came from, although they were given legitimacy by my Journalism professor at LIM when she graded my papers with As.
My most cherished work is an essay I composed on granting the right to vote to eighteen-year-olds. Penned in 1969 just before my nineteenth birthday, it was substantiated by references to esteemed Presidents like FDR and John F. Kennedy, who were all in favor of this change. That essay earned me yet another A!
But here I was a teenager in 1969 and no change had been made yet, the war in Vietnam was going on and people were able to fight and die for that war and all previous wars at the tender age of eighteen but never could vote at that age for their decision to go to war!
The topic was a significant issue in the 1972 election, which marked a year of change when I was nearly twenty-two. Indeed, it did change.
Allow me to introduce you to the crew...
