"DeSantis banned school mask mandates. Can he do that?

https://www.yahoo.com/news/desantis-banned-school-mask-mandates-103200861.html

"Jeffrey S. Solochek, Tampa Bay Times

"Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis hasn’t been shy about his opposition to school mask mandates, regardless of advice from the Centers for Disease Control and a leading national association of pediatricians. Unable to get a special legislative session to ban them, he issued an order Friday to have his administration financially penalize any school districts that impose a requirement. Read on for that story and more Florida education news.

At the time of his action, two of the state’s 67 districts had announced plans to require masks. DeSantis critics panned his proposal, based on the concept of protecting parental rights, as an overreach into local government responsibilities. • Palm Beach County school district lawyers are reviewing whether the governor has the authority to issue his edict, the Palm Beach Post reports. • DeSantis kept up his rhetorical drumbeat against masking on Fox News over the weekend, Florida Politics reports.

The debate is fracturing local communities and school boards. Hillsborough board member Jessica Vaughn took steps to make clear she backs a mask requirement, even if her colleagues did not.

The governor’s announcement prompted some creative ideas among districts. Duval County school officials said they’d require all adults to wear masks in the schools, but not the students, the Florida Times-Union reports. • Brevard County board members said they will consider limited mask rules for the new school year, but not an overarching mandate, Florida Today reports. • The Orange County school district offered employees a $200 incentive to get vaccinated by November, the Orlando Sentinel reports."

Me gleaning the most interesting portions of the item in this morning's Yahoo news!!!

"A top pediatrician in the state dismissed the governor’s ‘parental choice’ argument. “It’s a parent’s prerogative to be able to make choices and decisions for their children. But if they want to go to public school, they have to abide by public health measures. And that is putting a mask on,” Dr. Lisa Gwynn, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics Florida chapter told WLRN."

I do believe you too will enjoy knowing!

The hotkey above all this gives you the full story by Jeffrey S. Solochek.

Moving on...

Hubby has been removing some trees from the center garden around the pond...Don't get upset they were unbeknownst to me the invasive kind, now we know... anywho, they might be responsible for the roots that went through our swimming pool,... and so my feeling is goodbye and good luck!

He had ordered a winch, not a wench, I know those with a sense of humor get those confused... any-who the tool, now stop that! What are you in kindergarten??? And so the winch, a tool that helps to pull things out, not going there... had a 4500-pound capacity, but with a rope that snapped!!! It was the most reasonably priced one, and so now fortunately Amazon is picking it up via UPS today. And Hubby has learned once again that cheaper is never better! He immediately ordered a new one although this one is fifty dollars more with a metal cable, not a rope but the same torque capacity of 4500 pounds of power.

It came yesterday... he is using it to help get the trunks of the trees out. He has all the correct cutting tools and has a winch that was ancient but worked until recently.

The other issue with the tree was it was too close to the house, causing a hazard of possibly falling on it, and the pool and also dirty with leaves falling even in summer, so probably not healthy!

There are a couple more with the same aspects so Hubby has his work cut out for him... considering we are getting into the busiest part of hurricane season!

The last week of August through September are considered prime hurricane times for Florida.

Although our personal worst hurricane, Charley, came on August 13th, a Friday in 2004.

Moving on... lastly... I think my timing may be off because all these latest sunrises' pictures are looking the same, not vibrant at all..., and I miss that!

And so we must go for now ...

Please be smart as well as safe.
Have a very pleasant day.

Count those blessings, and we will too!
Next time, please be here or be square, ya hear!

Aussie, say good day!

I am Aussie, not being from Australia, but American-made, I will comply anyway, for the fun of it,... so I will say good day!

I am called Aussie because my Mom asked a sixteen-year-old girl, who had been looking at me, in the crate at the adoption site, that day, what she thought I should be named. And without hesitation, the teenager had said, Aussie! She was just looking, by the way,... so Mom did not steal me from her.
We never did find out the girl's name, and Mom liked the name Aussie too. We have since found out that it is a very common name, but it is still just right for me! My parents think that I am uncommon though,... some might say even unique! I do like that.
I am an Australian Shepherd. Here is an interesting factoid about me, I was supposed to be a miniature Australian Shepherd, but... as you might know, I AM NOT! Although I am now three years old, so I am the baby, though I tip the scales at around seventy pounds, HA! I must admit, a very big one!
I was three months old when Mommy and Daddy adopted me. I had been taken out of a hoarder's home in the Carolinas with my litter. Below is my new PIC that had been taken on the birthday that I share with my Dad, but Dad is much, much older than me!!! I was the first to be adopted, February 16, 2018, his brother's birthday.
3 months................................................ 3 years

No tail/tale publishing, circa 2018. (Although, the actual date this blog started was June 25, 2008.)
Get it? I was born without a tail, preferable for all Australian Shepherds; only one out of five are born that way!

Hello, I am Bella in the picture above, a Maltese Yorkie, a Morkie, and I might be five years old. I am the middle child, so I am what you would expect, with all those idiosyncrasies that go along with all that! Being the only girl has its rewards, as well as difficulties... We are all rescues, so no one knows for sure our ages. I was turned in by my previous family, stating that I was misbehaving with their elderly dog, they had said I was driving him crazy! I was the second to be adopted on 8/18/18, on clear out the shelters' day!Oh, by the way, my record's called me Belle, and so for no known reason, Mom decided I was more of a Bella; beautiful either way!

Please don't forget me, I am Chance, pictured above, a Bichon Frise! I am six years old, so they think, and the eldest, and I like getting up early with Mom and Aussie. Bella sleeps in with Dad, till after seven most days, even later! I enjoy a good tug-a-war on the ropes that Dad had twisted for Aussie and me, and sometimes even Bella plays too! I was the last to be adopted, on January 23, 2020.

I was wandering the neighborhood for days and then saw Aussie and Bella in their living-room window, so I hung out there... The Animal Welfare League checked me out and kept me for sixteen days until I was allowed to be adopted. Good evening?

The animal control lady was called and came out to see if I had a chip I.D. with her machine, and Dad told her that he wanted to name me Chance. His reason being, that if no one claimed me, I want to give him a second chance! So that is how I got the name Chance!

Easy as Aussie, Bella, Chance, now you got it!

Speaking My Mind: Interesting familiar diagnosis for one and horrifi... :   But these are MINE! Not Hubby's! What he has is not contagio...
