Today was the day that I went to Southwest Florida Pain Management for an eval

Good news that my severe disc changes are not all on my spinal cord they are outward on the root nerves, huh good?

Cervical results
IMPRESSION
1.Chronic multilevel moderate degenerative and moderate to severe facet disease, most prominent at C5-C-6, and C6-C7 levels.
2. There is a midline pharyngeal cyst anterior to the clivus, suggestive of a Tornwaldt cyst.

:
Medical dictionary:
facet: bone
pharyngeal: pharynx (throat)
anterior: towards front
clivus: bony sloping surface
Tornwaldt cyst:

"inflammation or obstruction of the pharyngeal bursa with the formation of a cyst containing pus."

Thoracic results

IMPRESSION
There is a central posterior disc protrusion at the T8-T9 level and a right paracentral/lateral disc protrusion at the T9-T10 level.Given history of trauma. ( my fall)

So now I am scheduled in two weeks for the beginning of trying to get some relief with cervical facet injection! That means that an anesthetic (numbing medicine) and corticosteroid medication ( anti-inflammatory medicine) will be injected into my facets to alleviate the pain under fluoroscopy, a type of x-ray!
If it works it can last weeks or months!

And if it doesn't we try something else called, cervical radiofrequency ablation (RFA):
Where an IV is inserted to administer intravenous medication to help you relax. A local anesthetic will be used to numb your skin. Fluoroscopy is again used to insure the safe and proper placement of the needle. The doctor will then check the needle for proper position by stimulating the nerve.
This might cause twitching and provoke pain. With the needle in the correct position, the area will be numbed. The doctor will then use radiofrequency energy to disrupt the medial branch nerve.
After you are monitored for 30 minutes. Before you leave you will be given discharge instructions. You may feel sore for one to four days. This is normal, an may be caused by nerve and muscle irritation. Your neck or upper back may feel numb, weak, or itchy for a couple of weeks. Be patient for full pain relief normally takes two to three weeks.
Pain relief varies from patient to patient, nerves regenerate within 18 months!

Happy good night all!

Next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
