People, dogs and more.

Strange trying to figure out why somethings do somethings, hmm?
Love should never ever be fleeting, as understanding should not be either.
Take this morning... we Hubby, Aussie and me went to a meeting about our neighborhood, committee MSBU/MSTU or Municipal Service Benefit Unit, I know as clear as mud, actually it is a geographic area within the county, created by ordinance and defined by special boundaries, through which certain services are provided. The agenda discussed was about invasive non indigenous trees, such as the pepper tree, and necessary floras as the mangroves and if they could be trimmed back when encroaching on private waterways/ properties usage. No dredging was discussed it is considered as a closed topic decided years ago...(more about that below), and Hubby was very interested in that, and the need for code enforcement to back up policies in neighborhoods of the lack of concern for clean and tidy properties, meaning maintaining lawn's growth and removing junk strewn about, including vehicles unused and commercial etc., by some residents. All not up for discussion.
Also, most there were newbees in living in our county, and did not know Hubby and how long we have been living here and that he had worked with Code Enforcement as a deputy and was responsible for many of the laws in the code system books. And that he was responsible for the starting of and being a board member of the KEEP CHARLOTTE BEAUTIFUL COMMITTEE!
And that since retirement he has been taking care of me, and calling up to complain and to speak with the commissioners when he noticed things that weren't right!
He had been invited by Morgan the assistant to our commissioner to join the meeting today.
Mentioning that our neighbor Phil Graham who has the same street number as ours with his and our streets both starting with the same letter "P", and so for years we have received each others mail and orders. He is a retired NYC cop; and he heads the committee.
So we went.
Aussie was at first not allowed, and then they changed their minds for some reason and so Hubby unloaded me and him and in we went, but for some reason Aussie was not his usual Awesome self, he was whimpering and wiggly! And so as soon as we went in Hubby took us back out to the car, and so we waited. And as I pet Aussie to my horror I found out that he had picked up a nasty sand spur from their so-called garden there when he was walked prior to entering the building!
Rather large and very thorny, and then I found another, thankfully I removed both.
Hubby had returned to the meeting and I felt it very important for him to know why Aussie was misbehaving for a good reason.People had given him, Aussie, disdainful looks.
So I called to let him know and of course he went out of the room to take the call.
He also mentioned that since he was a guest that he would only have three minutes to talk at the end of the meeting.
It appears our nasty pepper tree will be dealt with, since that was something they were working on. The tree is from south America and is not indigenous to Florida and multiplies significantly and encroaches in areas that but up to homes, or on lots like the one next door that has been empty since 2004 from Hurricane Charley! We did try very hard to notify the owners that say they are from Canada, but when you look their address up it ended up in Ontario at a realtors that I wanted to speak to, and was passed around with no one being able to tell me anything! That call was twenty bucks that time and ended up being a dead end!
I had gotten the info off the tax records, you would think that would be correct, but apparently not!
Frustration.
So we thought okay, get involved again... bureaucracy even on local levels are just as nasty to maneuver around.
Oh, and get this, if we want to dredge our canal our self we might be allowed to by going through another long process, sure and with a few thousand bucks we could, NOT!
We are tax payers! Other areas have the taxes pay for it!
When they polled our area they never contacted the snowbird home owners here, so they only received ten percent back that wanted the process for dredging to happen!
Talk about governments screwing people over.
Yup.

Any-who, we are sort of involved now, the meeting is on the 24th.
I think we may go or not.
Although, we have no idea what they might try to tweak then.
The group is mostly us older folks, with a couple of younger assistants from the commissioners offices.

Now that we stuck our toes in, so to speak, perhaps we should give it another looksee?

Happy good night to all!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
