Flamingos!

You either love 'em or hate them, but they do exist!

http://www.flamingos-world.com/

Whether you think they are tacky or iconic or even just a little bit interesting we personally lived in Florida for over twelve years before we succumbed to the activity of considering them as lawn ornaments in any shape, style or form.

We had purchased the type that many found tacky, four in a pack from Walmart and we chose two that are not too different from some of the above ones. At first we put them out , only two in the front center garden and nastily when we came home one day one was missing, it either blew away or someone felt that stealing one would make us remove them! Little did they know we had six more, seven with the one no longer a pair...
We decided our backyard would be more appropriate and safer for their exhibition and so that is what we did, although I had the brilliant idea to make them reindeer for the holidays and we stretched lights from each one and we had had a slightly less tacky looking metal one that we installed a red nose on from a Styrofoam ball painted red! Santa was found at again Walley World and we had him in major strong wooden board and this display was placed on our back lawn facing the canal for all other boaters to see during the holidays!

We did this for quite a few years, and we received all sorts of comments, mostly positive. After all when you live in Florida you have lighted dolphins, and sharks and palm trees and all sort of tropical sea creatures boldly displayed for the holiday season, especially in our famous boat parades!

These days we only display two of our better quality Flamingos, both oddly enough referred to as PINKIE!
Their colorings have been over the years redone several time due to weather taking its toll on them, and I used to make up a brew of my special acrylic and latex paints, white in latex and red in acrylic that would turn into a Pepto Bismol color, yep that really pink pink!
But this year I was thrilled to see when the coloring of them needed to be done Hubby took it upon himself to do it the smarter not harder brush way but with our spray of rust proof iridescent pink! They are the first two examples of Flamingos, although real ones have been placed into the mix, which I am sure you can easily tell...

Do yourself a favor and read the link I included I bet you thought you knew more than you did about them, yep the iconic tacky always pretty in pink even if it is more peachy keen than true pink...waterfowl that makes most think of Florida when they see one....

On that note of good vibes allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
