Normally what one might do to fix a situation is do what so many feel is counterintuitive. When one has a hangover from drinking too much the night before that next morning they are given an alcoholic beverage to cure the hangover and that is not acceptable by all. This is usually done the morning after binge drinking... not that I would know anything about that.
Color on hair, looks innocent enough and like it is doing what it should be doing, but HA!
Above is the test inch squared of hair that I divided in several sections; Hubby snipped it off the back of my head, hopefully not noticeable.
And so my analogy is true to form with that above concept and by all means should have worked... since CLAIROL told me to do it!
Yes, their reasoning was that I did not leave it on long enough at only forty-five minutes and thus I got ORANGE hair for my troubles. Their solution was to purchase the product again, which you can see that I did, actually Hubby did, and this time leave it on for ninety plus minutes and or as long as two hours! (I did that!)
Most, by now, must be thinking what are they/me crazy for listening to them, besides wouldn't your hair fall out?
Yes and no, since with all the extra wasted time that I got for my additional troubles was this YELLOW HAIR!
So I called these people back who has their company of Clairol as their employer that has been around for like a gazillion years or there about and I felt that talking to them once again that I would ask if they could solve this worsening problem? Oh wait, YELLOW IS NOT AS BRIGHT AS ORANGE; what?????
Their polite answer to me on this my second call was I suppose now you will have to leave it alone for the next FOUR WEEKS before you put anymore chemicals on it? WHAT!!!!?????? I felt like buzzing their very WRONG ANSWER! BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ that does feel a bit better...
Instead, I said no that is not the correct answer; I cannot go out looking like this, and blah, blah, blah, blah.... I am currently in physical therapy and I have MS, blah, blah, blah and this is VERY STRESSFUL, blah, blah, blah etc.!
Yes, I do play the illness card whenever it will fit the bill, and anyway what I had said was absolutely true!
So Delano, I swear that is his name, like honored President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, had me hold while he checked with his superiors, the gods of color and clarity I suspect, since he knew neither, in my opinion.
And when he came back on the phone he then gave me a formula that I should use once I acquired the miraculous cure to this mess and this is what he told me, you need 06 Medium Cool Blond in Natural Instincts and once you have it in your possession you should use it this way: in a bowl add, 1 ounce of color, 1 ounce of developer and 1 ounce of shampoo and mix them all together then apply on damp hair and check every five minutes by rinsing a section to see if the color is right, and the longest that I should do this is up to 20 minutes, but the desired color may be achieved in as short as ten minutes.
And now that sounded like a decent plan! Who knew...
...Except... after calling all three CVS stores in county and three Walgreen's and two Walmarts, one Target, no one had it!
I called Clairol back in the midst of my search for any other possibilities and they said that 05 of the Natural Instincts would also be acceptable, and you know what?
That too was nowhere to be found!
Talk about WILD GOOSE CHASES!
I was getting very annoyed, oh let's face it, angry!
But I remembered what that nice gal at Target had said, about trying Sally's or Cosomof. I called Sally's first and it was just as well.
They own Cosomof and they're just for professionals in the business and would not have been able to help me, but Sally's was.
More exact Sara the woman who worked there.
She suggested and Hubby should go there to pick up a fine compromise; Shimmer lights shampoo and its separate conditioner.
That when used for a certain amount of minutes, starting with anywhere from 5-7 minutes due to my very banana yellow locks... it should make it calm down to the ash blond that all this was for and all that I was after.
It is true this is a daily procedure, but I am a wash my hair daily type of gal anyway, and it is a shampoo and conditioner!
The best part is when all is said and done, in around four weeks time I will be able to use another tamer color to become more permanent!
I had the nerve to call back Clairol for the fourth time today and let them know that they should know what they are talking about and that I had called a professional company that were able to give me a solution that I could live with...
Clairol has a wonderful reputation in so many ways, but not everyone knows everything, and these people knew very little and constantly put me on hold to find out, which is commendable, but when you are a trouble shooting hair color hotline as I thought they were it left me with an enormous wonderment of what were they thinking? PS their offices are in Jacksonville Florida, I thought originally they were in NYC, but as that smart Sara said with so many companies splitting up parcels these days who knows who owns what anymore, really? All in all I am very disappointed and when I called back and told them how I felt they offered a refund, which I accepted with my two purchases of their product at nearly twenty-five bucks not to mention the gas for Hubby going here and there... and aggravation and all... But I did tell her that is very nice that they are doing that, but they should also try to fix their problem and find out better ways to help people...that would work!
By the way, they were the ones who told me which stores carried their Natural Instincts product to call and that is why I do believe they should know better than they seemed to... that's all.
I haven't tried the Shimmer lights yet too tired physically and emotionally exhausted... Hubby did all the running and I did all the calling.... although, he did help on some calls, but not so much, not his topic of expertise, ya know?
*Clairol is an old and respected company, being, if for no other reason than for their longevity, and my Mom who used their hair color products most of her life would have been shocked to have heard of all this baloney that I went through with them today!
Perhaps they should have people better trained with more knowledgeable in their field as colorists.
This whole thing also reminded me of a beautiful woman who worked as a demo salesperson for me in one of the five Sam's clubs that I trained people for, back in the early 1990's, she had been a Clairol box head-shot model and she maintained her beauty and sweetness throughout her life, she was eighty-eight when I hired her and an ex-New Yorker and as nice as they come and sold our products with vim and vigor, one of my best sales people ever, sadly I forgot her name, shame on me... oh wait, VIRGINIA, yep that was her name!
Any-who, on that little more pleasant note, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask all of you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
