238? Gone are the days from when we honestly looked marvelous!

As you all know that I do tell it as it is... so here it is... the problem lies in our infrastructure!
Our bridges, roads, many of our public buildings and lest us not forget the horror of too numerous to count national natural disasters, not to mention the world; well I just did,  didn't I!
And that's just for starters...
Mentioning that depravity appears to have manifested itself in domestic and stranger physical violence daily! Or do I sound too judgmental?
We are soooo unhealthy with obesity, eating and smoking and drinking too too much!
Those things are in most of our control, but not all...GET HELP!
Health care needs to be for all!
Sure in them olden days we had no way to know what's what as swiftly as we do today!
Thanks to all the news and weather medias and techno devices making sure we know before during and after and yet we die...
No one seems to trust anymore?
Of course we have been given too many reasons not to...history!

We all were told to study it, history that is, as not to repeat it!The commonly used expression, "Those who ignore history are bound (or doomed) to repeat it" is actually a mis-quotation of the original text written by George Santayana (1863-1952), who, in his Reason in Common Sense, The Life of Reason, Vol.1, wrote "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Did we listen to any of this sage advice, methinks not so much?

So if the expression that I have used more times than not that we, as a country, but we are not alone the world  can sadly relate too, seem to all be going to hell in a hand-basket, or is that way too harsh a partial/biased observation?

Below is the interesting info on this overused saying by the word-detective...

"I first tackled this question back in 1996, with limited success.  Unfortunately, the origin of “going to hell in a handbasket,” meaning “to deteriorate, especially rapidly,” hasn’t become any more certain in the years since.  We do know that the phrase is an American invention, and that it first appeared in print, as far as we know, in 1865:  “Thousands of our best men were prisoners in Camp Douglas, and if once at liberty would ‘send abolitionists to hell in a hand basket.'
The question, of course, is “why a handbasket”?  Is there something particularly diabolical about handbaskets (small baskets with handles, usually used for carrying fruit or flowers) that makes them suitable for conveying one to Hades?  The answer appears to be no, since “going to hell in a handcart” seems to be a popular variant in Britain, and “going to hell in a bucket” is popular on the internet (as well as a wide variety of lame puns such as “going to hell in a Hummer” and “in a handbag”)."

Ya know we all have this ridiculous attitude of so what? Or why not? Or move on?
Or forget about it!?

Yes, we as a nation and yes, as a world too, if nothing else we are resilient as a race, and I am speaking about the human one! We have brains that tell us how to get out of these messes and change things for the better just out of absolute necessity!

Things can be changed and we have had that history as well.

The reason my math tonight was simple to recall for our birthday year/age, as a nation, was due to our simple fact our younger son was born in the year of our country's bi-centennial of 1976, yep he got a fancy birth certificate and everything, just to celebrate the additional special occasion!
I recommend it highly if you too can figure out how to do that...

On that silly ending to a tearing one honest rant... isn't that what America is all about being able to be you and free and happy and all those wonderful things and as well as all their opposites?
I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN! Happy Fourth of July to all who celebrate it, some may not, and like all else here that's OK! I get you!

Please have a very happy safe good night and kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Sure you do and tomorrow go out and change something you're not happy with and know that's great to be capable to do that for all the right reasons! Love and hugs!
