Murphy's Law Day Again!

Have you ever counted how many things went wrong in only one day?
NO, for us too, but the expression that many things happens in sets of threes was proven to be why today I counted and was happy that we appear to be done with our three fold bad things happening all today; although the day isn't over, is it?
We decided to have a couple of poached eggs on toast, yes we did have that NEW toaster and all, right; so why not?
#1 No problems were anticipated, but when Hubby put in our two slices of multi- grain sour dough thin sliced bread from the Publix bakery, one side of the toaster did not toast at all and the other was burnt!
Gosh, only two days old...
So I called the manufacturer thinking maybe with the new fancy buttons we did not know how to set it right, but two different results still sounded as if it was the toaster not us, and sure enough...I was right!
The nice woman there at Hamilton Beach said just return it and get another one, since it is not supposed to do that!
Who knew with these new fangled things it did seem plausible that we might have not known the correct way to set it... true?
So Hubby felt today would be a better day to take care of it instead of tomorrow with the holiday and all!

#2 He needed gas too after our trip yesterday that proved our mileage could be improved by driving a longer distance from eleven miles to the gallon, abysmal I know, but our car IS nearly thirteen and paid for with less than 42K miles on it, any-who, yesterday with that longer trip we got sixteen, sweet!

And so Hubby filled up and the car died at the pumps for a whole half an hour!
They had to push him away from the pumps at Sam's Club; how embarrassing!
But  I wasn't there, and Hubby called me to tell me and asked me to call Chevy and get their hours in the service department, and then the car started and he was able to exchange the toaster and come home...
At Target they even gave him (2) $3.00 coupons without expiration dates for his trouble of having to return the broken toaster, saying at the least they can do is to pay for his gas!
Well that was a nice surprise.

#3 Hubby left late morning for those minimal errands, but I thought I would make a nice lunch for when he got home and for that I needed to use the broiler in our oven, well I thought the Pam caused a small flame to be in it, but it was a much bigger issue!
Our electric stove/oven, a Hotpoint, top coil, broiler one, BROKE and caught fire! ( To be fair the appliance is 14 years old bought new too, of course! All our appliances we replaced within a few years of moving in, a waterfront home, at a fixer upper price, what a deal!)
I quickly closed the door and shut it off and looked for the baking soda in the fridge... but couldn't figure out how to toss it up at the flame?
Good thing I have a retired Fire Chief in the house!
He laughed and went out into our garage and flipped the circuit breaker switch...
Took note of the model number and how the coil was fastened on and called the local appliance parts store! He just had to wait till it cooled off... to take it with him. They had the part in stock, yay lucky after all!
Well one would have to think that way to change the bad luck into good, right?
So far, it seems to be working... but it is only six thirty-four P.M.?

On that note of being two fools with hope...allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
