Skipper Day!

His yearly checkup went well.
No disorders to worry about and all inoculations up to date, including rabies.
Although, he has gained weight, up to just over eighteen pounds, but not fat according to the vet, anyway!
He has been inside more than running and playing in this extensive heat.
Now at just over ten years old, thankfully he still can run well when he does his Bichon Blitz or buzz; running in circles, not that dissimilar to how greyhounds do on a track, but no rabbits to chase here and not told or made to do it, he just does it without any rhyme or reason.
This behavior is unique to the breed.
Although, he does on occasion run inside, without hurting himself, which to me is amazing, since there are many more obstacles!
Here is a little female Bichon demo-ing the behavior: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrcbOJdArBo

As you can see by the pic I just took a few minutes ago, he also has a very serious side and enjoys using our oldie but goodie desktop computer when he feels the desire to chat with others of his ilk! (LOL)

He is maturing like most all of us and his kind... and slowing down a bit, notice no wee was said since he has not done that naughty since being a wee pup!

His maturity has him getting up a little bit slower, but no definite arthritis as of yet...as per today's vet office visit Hubby inquired.
I have eight types of arthritis and worked with that foundation for years... and another of our four legged pups/dogs did have an arthritis and the medication, I believe gave him liver cancer, since he didn't drink alcohol, but I am no vet...
Any-who, I don't take anything for my arthritis and so we shall see how he does...,
If it does turn into it and becomes debilitating arthritis, then we will look into perhaps some newer meds available.

He is not complaining and so far the vet says he seems just fine, he actually had jumped up onto the examination table, case closed!

On that note of trying NOT to look for trouble, since it seems to find us...allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you all to kindly count all your blessings and share all those overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Rain has already come and gone...watching a Netflix movie...

..."Saving Mr. Banks"; saw "Frozen" last week!
And there you have it...my mentality...childlike, sounds much better than childish!
Sometimes we all are, thankfully!
No worries of the "cringe factor", this way, true?

Although, Mrs. Travers, the author, had a lot of baggage making it not such a joyous movie, i.e Saving Mr. Banks, about the making of  Mary Poppins.
I am well engaged to the plot of the movie for some odd reason...could it just be Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson?

An alcoholic father and mentally frustrated mother of Pamela Travers explains many of her issues.
The story goes much how one might think, but there is a twist and a turn totally unexpected and strange.
Not a common feel  good movie...probably why it didn't do as well as it should have at the box office.
Too realistically, with rolling hills of ups and downs in her life of miseries.

Somewhat a true story, but a bit of controversy was as much a part of this movie as it portends to be as  Mary Poppins was.

Well, it is still on and so I will say good night to all and to all a wonderful evening too!

Ya know that other night that I said...

...No rain for us on the coast; two night's ago?
Well, for the whole time I had said that here on this blog and a while after there wasn't any, but then WHOOSH and WOW, we did get quite a bit and more yesterday and again today!
We are truly experiencing our rainy season in an extremely wet way!Even one confirmed tornado was way south of here the other day!

But as most Floridians will tell you wet, even inches and inches and a few broken branches from wind is never ever as bad as a full fledged HURRICANE!
It is so early in the season though and all this unbearable heat is setting them off, the rain that is, according to most of the meteorologists. After the beneficial cooling rains the temperature drops twenty degrees!
Yep, from the nineties down to the seventies.

Moving on...
Today one of my Facebook friends posted a pro planned parenthood article, and I too am for women having control over their bodies and all decisions concerning procreation in every situation!
Although, even though Roe Vs. Wade was passed in 1973 I was a very happily married mom by then for two years.
We had our first son and all by then, our second son was born in 1976, after a miss-carriage at four months' pregnancy in between and that was devastating.
When  I was expecting our second son I also had to be hospitalized in my third month and almost lost him too!
But he was born healthy after.
I so wanted a daughter too to round  out our family and so we tried again and I miss-carried in only six weeks, and then a while later once more another valiant try and again at four months I miss-carried,that made five pregnancies in only ten years and that carried an emotional as well as a physical devastation that few could ever know or even want to...I personally would never have an abortion due to my personal experiences of so much wanting another child, but even so I can well understand many circumstances that would be very good reasons, such as... rape, incest, socio-economic, yes even that, medical concerns, being a child yourself, so many truly honest ones that I have no right to judge.
So as a woman and for that alone I too understand...so at the rather young age of thirty-one and a month after that last horrendous loss/my third miss-carriage I had a tubiligation, which  I do believe planned parenthood believes in as well! We had to sign papers, yes, Hubby did too. A bit archaic looking back now...  Would you believe that so I would not longer be able to assault my body by choice due to not being able to carry to term and even your legal husband had to sign to validate that you were allowed to make that choice, in New Jersey in 1981, eight years after the passing of Roe Vs. Wade making so many laws for women to have a choice on how they decided on having a child or not... ! To this day I wonder if men are treated that way when they decide to get a vasectomy?

I felt I was the one having the problem holding the pregnancy and so I felt that Hubby should not go through any, even so-called minimal surgery. In those days a tubiligation was a small incision surgery for me, after I was sorry that I did it, but it was for the best and no, it was not the reversible kind...
Oh being sorry was more due to my Mom passing away about five months later, silly, huh?

Today, I am happy that we have two healthy sons that are wonderful each in their own ways...

On that note of wishing for nothing more than for you too to have all your decisions in life be your own to own with no regrets...allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

PS Do we really own our own bodies?
We should, no mortgages on them, let us please have that!
And kindly know that I do not care if you are anti anything, but allow me to have that right to be for whatever I wish too as we all should accept and respect one another for our own feelings on different topics!

Disturbing blanket info, again!

I sure hope that we have all learned to take most what goes on on the net or even on in those magazine shows that should be taken with a grain of salt.
The latest "new" info is about mothers and childbirth.

"Giving Birth Later in Life Is a Sign of Longevity"

And the story goes on to say,
"Researchers at Boston University and Boston Medical Center studied women who lived to the age of 95 or older and compared them with 151 women who died at younger ages. What they found was interesting: Women who gave birth naturally (without fertility assistance, such as IVF) after the age of 33 were twice as likely to live to the age of 95. And women who gave birth after the age of 40 were four time as likely to live to the age of 100."

Thanks to:https://shine.yahoo.com/healthy-living/women-kids-after-33-and-40-live-longer-boston-university-boston-medical-center-thomas-perls-life-expectancy-delay-motherhood-study-154330781.html

Now this sounds wonderful to all those women who have been delaying any baby interests until they have established themselves in any of their careers. No more of that their baby-making clock ticking those years away! Waiting is better and more beneficial for all!

No more fears of such chromosomal anomalies such as Downs or other possible genetic concerns due to modern medicine and even if anything does happen all is well these days! Genetically speaking, we are capable of handling everything and anything!

But the fact that it actually says that it will in fact cause the mother to live longer is a bit farfetched in my opinion, but I am no doctor.

I can only speak from my very personal own experience so here  I go... my own mother had me at age thirty-nine and my dad was forty-three, not that the father is in this equation for this longevity study.

It is true I was a product of a second marriage, my mom was a divorcee and my dad was a widower, and it is true my mom had had my half brother when she was twenty and had been married too young to a philandering musician, she said, at only eighteen. I was twenty and seven and half months myself when we married and had our first son a month before my twenty-second birthday, and I was very young too, but with a different outcome relationship wise...a decent guy, and of course I  am still with him!

Any-who, back to when you have your baby or babies later in life increasing your life span, my mom died way too young in my mind,  at only seventy, a week before her seventy-first birthday! Dad died at age seventy-nine and than some...

So you can see why I disagree.

My  mom was born in 1911 and dad was born in 1907, and I always found it interesting that the famous actress Lucille Ball also was born in the year of 1911, same as my mom, and here is another interesting fact, both of her children Lucy and Desi Jr. were born while she was near forty and in her early forties! Her daughter is almost exactly a year younger than me.

"In 1929, Ball landed work as a model and later began her performing career on Broadway using the stage name "Diane Belmont". She assumed many small movie roles in the 1930s as a contract player for RKO Radio Pictures. Ball was dubbed the "Queen of the Bs" (referring to her many roles in B-films). Ball met and eloped with Cuban bandleader Desi Arnaz in 1940. In 1951, Ball was instrumental in co-creating the television series I Love Lucy with her husband, Arnaz. On July 17, 1951, at almost 40 years of age, Ball gave birth to their first child, Lucie Désirée Arnaz.[3] A year and a half later, she gave birth to their second child, Desiderio Alberto Arnaz IV, known as Desi Arnaz, Jr."

"Born Lucille Désirée Ball
August 6, 1911 Jamestown, New York, U.S.
Died April 26, 1989 (aged 77) Beverly Hills, California, U.S."

 Thanks to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucille_Ball

I'm just saying... food for thought, ya know! As you can see neither Lucille Ball nor my Mom lived anywhere near ninety-five or one hundred! Readers beware!

Sure my parents did not act their age, they acted much much younger and said it was due to me, and we all know that Lucy never acted old either... but even so it had no affect on their longevity having us kids in their older ages.

But as far as living till an older age due to having your children later in life I'm not convinced that should be a criteria to consider, but you are free to do as you wish.

Too many things go into it to consider all your heredity, lifestyle even if healthy, bicyclist have died, and walkers, joggers and physically fit people and so many accidents can still happen just so many things that cannot be controlled as well...life itself is a crap-shoot! Excuse the expression, and my cringe factor has definitely been alerted!

Just have your children, because you want them and will love them and care for them and be there for them... you all know why we do...have them, had them...

That's all!

I can remember a weird comment from my uncle in-law, Hubby's Mother's brother when we announced to that side of the family that I was expecting,so very happily, and he said: "what's the big deal, any teenager can do that!"

Is it any wonder we never became close? Bud dump bum...

But sometimes too much planning is too much planning and fitting these tiny people into your schedule sounds way too cold...you fit into theirs...by the way...

Reasons, there are many and timing, sometimes is not exact, but wonderful and always works out somehow!

Anyhow, I can remember when I did a short stint in nursing school, they were teaching then that anything below a three hundred cholesterol was good in their nutrition class!

My parents had died not too soon before and all they had was high cholesterol under three hundred if I recall... but neither that high! They were not obese, smokers, or ate anything but healthily, fruits and veggies and lean meats, etc... and yet they died...from strokes.

I do believe that is the reason I quit that school, it was still too raw with my parents deaths and I think I argued that their information was inaccurate. Today, it is said to be best to be under a total cholesterol of two hundred, and below that is much better!

Oh well...

I did learn in that short time and did quite well with medical terminology where I did receive an "A"!

This was after LIM, which was right after high school, and nursing school was as a mom in the late 1980's while in Florida on the other coast, since my Mom's DOD was 1982 and my Dad's DOD was 1986, get it? Too soon...then.

Moving on...

Raw nerves are touched by blatant studies that cause us who know of a different experience that not all you read is fact and reader beware is an absolute, even with so-called reputable studies. Think about how many recalls in automobiles in that industry and FDA mistakes have been made. People are fallible.

Onward we go... and so I will close tonight with this can of worms opened for all to discuss... although, my compatriots are more than likely too old to consider this newest theory, but perhaps their offspring should openly discuss this... or even with your grandchildren...  if not too elderly, ha!

Another opening for conversation that is either taboo or interesting.

Love to all and to all a very good night!

Hot enough for you?

Now our 98 degrees F was for the high, and 76 degrees F was for our low today! This is here, in south west Florida, unusually hotter here too for this time of year than usual. But it is cooling off, we are already down to a magnificent 94F and a humidity of 38% and it's now 5:30 P.M., ha!

The humidity range was from 81% to 35%, and yes all today! And that was the direction, it started out higher and went lower, and then leveled off.
Here when it gets hotter the humidity can go down, oddly enough, even in our rainy season, at times... the proof is above.
No rain is scheduled for today by us on the south west Gulf Coast; at least not where we are, a bit further south there is a bit, and they are receiving the hit and miss smaller clusters of thunderstorms!

I know I have said this before and that is for years and years, but we used to have afternoon summer rain cells/showers for fifteen minutes to a half an hour, like clockwork, but for the last several years it has all changed! None of our rains have been that predictable and the previous ones would be a lovely cool off for us when they did they were quite refreshing.

Many of us, who do believe in Global Warming do think that must be the why for our extreme change.

Enough of rain and heat, how is it by you?

Here I am in a climate control setting so unless I watch the weather, which I do several times a day as well as on this techno informer...I wouldn't know.
Even when we do go out I am only out of air-conditioning for seconds or minutes at the most.
Here, in the Sunshine State we all have air-conditioned cars and buildings.
I am pretty sure that most everywhere does have that too now, except, of course in Third World locations, without electricity.

Many adapt I am more than sure, not much choice.
Oddly enough, Multiple sclerosis is rarer in hot climates, i.e. closer to the equator, they don't know why that is, it just is...
Of course there is always an anomaly or even a cluster on occasion that changes that statement.
Like all things in life.

The reason I brought up the MS is because many of us are extremely heat sensitive, but not all of us with MS, odd, but true.
That is just it, many are affected so differently one would think we had different diseases, but no, that is just how it is.
And it's rare to meet people who understand, which frustrates many of us! (Me included, but mellowing, or giving up, choosing my explanation times more carefully!)
Many get us mixed up with so many other neurological or even orthopedic or diabetic type illnesses.
No time to explain, best to agree at times with saying they're similarities...I hate giving up but some times it is not worth trying... to explain to ones who know more, ya know?

Any-who, again if any are interested here are a few great sites are listed here...

On that note of trying hard to be understood allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and kindly ask you to count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

20/20, with a lens assist! And on my 6th year BLOG anniversary!

I  can see clearly now!
Again, and it is with a contact lens in righty! Making it my distance eye!
Sure it took two surgeries with lotsa steroid and pressure drops that I am off of as of today, hooray!
Here I sit un-bespectacled before you with two bare eyes i.e.uncovered, oops did I say that?

My Dr. Klein is up to more good, he has recently also operated on a  woman who had been blind from the age of eleven due to a brain tumor and she is now seeing well too and for the very first time in over forty-two years! Amazing! She too was told nothing could help her, how truly sad...why do any doctors do that; to what benefit? Dumb? Stubborn? No time to read? Who knows...mean and bad sad!

It is truly nice to awake from a mini nap, Skipper woke me in less than ten minutes, and to realize that you have the ability to SEE! Although, I suppose reaching for my eyeglasses will continue for a while and even though the light bulb goes off fairly quickly that I don't need them... For any of you ever addicted to cigarettes you might be able to imagine that is that automatic not unlike reaching for one of those butts... Geez, my 8th anniversary for that too is coming up next month on the eleventh; if that wasn't clear, it was my quit those cancer sticks day!
Yep, was 7-11-06!

Oh contact lenses are nothing new for me. I got my first pair at the age of sixteen; the year that I had been told I was going to have to wear my glasses all of the time and I first had to have them to see the blackboard for and only by age seven!

And for over forty years I did wear contact lenses on and off, every type available in each decade, sleep in, don't sleep in, clean them daily, no toss them, leave them in for two weeks, which these are now! You name it I have had all kinds and many horror stories to go along with them too! Coloring my enhanced natural looking previously blond locks and getting the dye under them, and having to go the eye doc at eighteen years old to open my eyes with tooth picks to medicate them! Scratched corneas, a few too many times...I had been bad in not taking them out when I felt something under them! It was over those years that I learned eyes heal fairly fast from many bad things, but not all would be taught years later...

I enjoyed the freedom, and not needing even reading glasses when I showed the need at age thirty-eight, instead I went for mono lenses, that is one eye was for reading and had that type of lens and the other for distance for driving and it worked beautifully! Until about eight years later when I thought they gave me the wrong lens at the doctor's office and then I found out when told to take the reading lens out, because I magically no longer needed it! Apparently that happens when one begins getting cataracts, and yes that is what I was told for the reason, and that was fourteen years before I needed that cataract removed; lefty in 1-2010, which became my reading, new permanent lens and that one is working fine these days!
Crazy!
My plan was to have righty turned into the permanent distance one when it needed its cataract removed then the unexpected happened July 2 of 2010 Optic neuritis, Happy Birthday to me, a day after actually, July second of that year, was bye, bye righty, for nearly four years!

But alas now is all well and in working order!

HOORAY!

So I leave you tonight with again a day to celebrate not only this blog's anniversary, but my day of seeing, really seeing all there is to see!
Well, maybe not all, but most, well not most, a bit, a wee bit more than before, yes that's the ticket better and more than before, since I am officially a 20/20 GAL?
20/20 GAL!And I am no Barbara Walters, but my 20/20 refers to my sight!(You all knew that,ha!)
Albeit she saw that way too in that show!

On that happy note, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you all to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

I'm no one to talk about ...

People using words incorrectly or turning letters into words that have not been acceptable for most English majors knowledgeable acuity on the topic.
Although, there is a place where new words appear to be popping up readily and that is in these below dictionaries that most are familiar with The New Oxford, and Merriam Webster who do have reputations to be reckoned with: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/oxford-english-dictionary-new-words-for-march-2014-include-cted-beatboxer-and-bestie-9196992.html
.

 below:
Of course they have boards of people with much higher intelligence than me making those decisions on what is a good new idea for any and all words, but...
Why then do I hear news TV journalists still finding new ones that I can't seem to locate in all of techno-dom! See I do it all of the time, but no one here is checking me for appropriate usage and I don't make the BIG bucks anyway, so who cares...really! Today, earlier while a reporter was discussing two missing toddlers he said that the mother was "shooken", yep just like my techno-dom it too was underlined from this techno system's spell check! I Googled it, oh and Googled is also incorrect according to this spell check, any-who...after I searched thinking it sounded off never mind that I made sure everyone of my Facebook locations got the missing toddlers story, PS they are still missing as of this writing... here's the story link:
GREAT NEWS AND THEY HAVE BEEN FOUND IN THE WOODS!!!!!!!! THE GIRL AND THE BOY!!!!! Just in: Unconfirmed!

https://www.wordnik.com/words/shooken  if you tap this site  you will see that shooken has no definition, so is therefore NOT a word!

He should have said the mother was shaken from this experience.

So now I sound mean again, but no, I did not mention their name, see not even if the perpetrator of this minimal verbal disastrous mistake on air was male or female. Perhaps after they were looking back at the footage of the segment they felt just terrible... and even embarrassed. So me calling them out on using the made up tense of a word is not so awful, been there done that, and I own it daily and maybe that's what they should do too! Campaign for "Shooken" to be an acceptable tense of shook! who knows with the liberal reaction to these last few years of those above dictionary companies realizing to change with the times...GEEZ I hear that song in my head...

That's it for tonight and now allow me to be the very first to wish all  of you a very happy good night and ask you all to kindly count all your blessings and share all those overages and we will too!

No PICS tonight!

Just a bit of jibber jabber about ...

"Definition of jibber jabber

jibber jabber    Featured Word

noun

incessant, idle talk."

Thanks to:http://onlineslangdictionary.com/meaning-definition-of/jibber-jabber

As you can see the site address is longer than the definition!

Any-who, until I watched that show, The Big Bang Theory, I did not know that I had been a, "jibber jabbering" for years and quite proficiently to the dismay of many!

Although my previous,  for years claim to fame had been my ability to speak, Gibberish,  my true first language and apparently now a synonym to jibberjabber, either way is correct, together or separate;
see below:
gib·ber·ish  (jbr-sh)
n.
1. Unintelligible or nonsensical talk or writing.
2.
a. Highly technical or esoteric language.
b. Unnecessarily pretentious or vague language.

It is amazing to realize that there is a name for what  you do!
Sure I blog, but I also do much of the above to my own chagrin.

Not too bad really, mostly just not as quick to understand as I once was, a bit distracted and what some might say too flowery in responses unnecessarily and off-putting many with trying hard to explain what I mean, when most could care less, ya know?

I used to be a multi-tasker, doing as much as five things at one time;
mothers and teachers all appear to have eyes in the back of their heads, and I was a card carrying member of that great group!

But, sadly these days I am lucky to be able to do almost two things at once, sometimes, and when well rested and if not asked why I am doing that ... at the time...KIDDING!
My real issue is talking and NOT listening; nothing new there...
I think what I have to say is more important than what people are trying to tell me or so it would seem... NO! That is not true.
AFRAID!
Yep, afraid that they won't hear what I want to tell them or to make sure that I DO understand them OR that I had that happen too!

No explaining will ever justify my behavior to most people, but in my logic I do want to talk with, not at, people.
I think since I have been aided and abetted by my circumstances and assistive walking devices or my scooter and people would seem to assume, at times that there is nothing in your attic/brain; and yes it was much worse in the wheelchair... being older too...!
Everyone that is physically challenged it seems to me try hard to show the world that nothing can stop them!
Most prove that well with showing their abilities are just different not stifled, by not monopolizing their "disabilities", not going to happen,  anymore...  nor should it...
You're not trying hard enough if you let people see that anything is difficult or harder than for non-challenged people though is really tough to do.

I suppose my showing all of you that jibber jabbering is an ongoing practice, and at this rate I will definitely be great at this art of nonsensical behavior to be at times entertaining, if  nothing else?

On that note, higher then intended to be, huh, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and kindly ask all of you to count your blessings and share your overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

PS Day one of the countdown to anniversary number six for this social experiment of mine!

Key lime anyone?

Dare I say, who's laughing now? Okay, we all are, but not for long...germination did take a wee bit longer than many other seedlings that I have grown, although the first time it appeared that I had goofed...And then I thought of what I did years ago to force things to grow, plants that is, not children by any means, ha... I put Saran wrap over the top and attached it with a rubber band all over after I had added the coffee grounds for an additional acid soil adjustment and Voila in days, I saw babies sprouting, vegetation ones that is and so I removed the Saran, and that was as of 6-19-14! The last two pics were taken just a few minutes ago, today 6-22-14! At this rate I can see a tree in our future and soon after planted, fruit? Eh, it takes years, but we are on our way! NO laughing from me...or you now either I bet.

As far as Hubby's crop goes his is also doing quite well, and again I have PICS to prove that too, his heirloom tomatoes and cherry tomatoes as well as his cucumbers:

In case any of you forgot where I got those seeds for my Key lime plant, here's a reminder...I'm just saying...acquired on 5-17-14 at the Fishville Key Lime Festival, sorry but that is not the date planted though, shamefully I did not write that date down.., but it was a while after...of course! I do believe that germination of most seedlings is seven to ten days, but mine took, maybe fourteen to twenty-one, still, it did happen; let's all remember that!

On that cheerful note allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and I will now ask all of you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Out of our comfort zone by about a forty miles radius...nearly fifty!

Today, we went to the Shell Factory in North Fort Myers, Fl, www.shellfactory.com we had been many times before, but this time we noticed a picture of the owner that is not amongst the pictorial that I have decided to let go of for your tonight's entertainment portion, but he has a dog, a family member of the four-footed fury persuasion, that looks just like our Skipper!

Any-who, that has not a thing to do with this pictorial that I have provided for your viewing pleasure and so let us begin!
