Fluffy white puff with dark
greenish black stuff, and this my friends is what is called TOXIC BLACK MOLD!
SCARY!
And so not so brave gal here
who compared this finding from the guest room book shelf Petri dish to an
online sampling, but for picture taking purposes Hubby transported to the top
of our decoupage trunk in this our screen room to get a better PIC; not an
exact match but fairly close.
And so I called guess?
The CDC and a man there
named, Brian, at the center for disease control, and yes they do have info on
sick house syndrome…he said check for any pipe leaks in the bathrooms or even
the fridge etc, wherever water could come in…
But alas he sent me via to my
in state number to our Florida State Health department, air quality
environmental health programs division that handles mold issues.
A nice gentleman up there in
Tallahassee,Tim Wallace, told me that the test was not a great way to
determine whether you have mold or not, consequently all Florida homes do have
some mold, but if you can’t see it physically on walls or in them, it’s not
that big an issue unless it is making you ill! But he said that those Petri
test kits sold in those hardware warehouse stores are not necessary, but that
we had tested for radon, also that they sell and as well as our carbon monoxide
alarm too was worthwhile and both were a very good idea and that the radon one
was sent in the other day was great.
He told me that he would
contact a more local health department environmental agency person, a Kent
Macci, and it was he who called me from Sarasota and recommended a few things
like a disposable hepa filter to put onto our air/heat conditioner system, all
these years Hubby has been washing ours that is a permanent filter not a
disposable one.
But he said that it should help.
Now all my houseplants are
outside, apparently they could also be culprits with standing water and
improper drainage, with our locked up home that PS in Florida I was retold that opening windows
for any reason, even with low humidity outside can and will allow mold spores
in!
Perfect humidity inside
should be around 50% and our temperature between 75 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit
is just fine.
And those plug in air
fresheners too are bad news apparently and we had five with a lavender scent in
our two bathroom two bedrooms and the laundry room… all gone now!
No more aerosol sprays; only
pumps and Lysol is fine.
And this last person, Kent,
said to call him back in a week to see if any of his suggestions helped and if
not we have more possibilities to call.
The white fuzzy one is ours
for
some reason the dark green
inside of it is not showing up as well here, but believe it is there! Just like
the one with the four spores’ shows.
Moving on…
Pussycat dogs, well Skipper
had a great teacher for being a well balanced mate, get it crew mate?
For many of his years he had
a handsome male feline Casey the orange long haired Tabby to show him
how…Sadly, Casey's last days were in October of 2010, he had a horrible cancer and as you can see, at age thirteen he is not his usual gorgeous self with his leg shaved due to having been on IV's, but a lovable guy to the end...
And as you can see our Skipper utilizes his
ability to keep up with all happenings going on the neighborhood or just pining
for Hubby when he goes out on errands
the END!
On that note of a bit of
silly, allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night
and ask you to kindly count all you blessings and share all your overages with
you know who and we will too!
And next time please be here
or be square, ya hear!
