And so it goes like...

When I thought I had an ENT, ear, nose and throat doctor, I didn’t.

You see, they would not accept my TERRIFIC FEDERALLY APPROVED HEALTH INSURANCE that I pay for monthly and so I called my insurance company and they told me that now I can use any doctors in or out of network and any that accept payment just like Medicare and that I should go to the Medicare site and look there for a doctor and so I did.

Amazingly the doctor that told me they did not accept my insurance was on that list!

So I guess you know what I did, hmm?

I called them back and they still insisted that they do not!

I went down the list and another doctor very local was on the list and who years ago I had gone to; and he just so happened to be the one who diagnosed my balance issue as NOT a middle ear problem, but more than likely Ataxia and recommended going to a neurologist as well as my orthopedist when at the time my cervical stenosis was not bad enough to cause dizzying balance issues thus narrowing down of the diagnosis.

His office was a bit more receptive and although they didn’t think so, the woman there recommended to bring my insurance card over and they would check it out more carefully and so Hubby ran it over the short distance and asked for the woman I spoke to, but a different woman wouldn’t allow him to speak to the other woman and said she was in charge to show it to her! And he did and she said no, we don’t accept that!

Frustrated and aggravated I thought I should contact my internist’s office and see if they knew any ENT doctors that might accept my insurance that they take and my doctor’s clerk said that my doctor could help me and that I should come in tomorrow and so I did and that was yesterday!

She, my doctor was very sympathetic and called in a prescription for Singulair, a medication for allergic rhitinitis, which she felt it was, after she examined me and even had them do a sinus x-ray there.

I agreed, but as my life does seem to go, just when you think things are going well, for me that is a fool’s security, since usually they are not!

And as soon as I was rolled into that radiology room I knew I was in trouble, he wanted me to stand and insisted I would fall and so I could not for any length of time. He was… well, we will try…he lowered the machine that was up about five feet off the ground to my head sitting height, without any difficulty at all! What was he pulling? Next I had fortunately brought my cervical collar since it is never far from me like my security blanket… I was wearing it since while sitting in the waiting room for this tech my head began to hurt bad and it always helped with that Cervicogenic headache of mine day or night lately.

After squashing my face against the machine like I had no bones in my nose and without concern for my well-being at all, he said now I will have to have that left cheek that showed on my MRI with progression of the left sinus mucosal thickening since the previous year.

He twisted my neck saying he could not get the picture if it was not closer and wanted me to put my head back! I said I have to wash my hair before I go to the hairdresser for a haircut and I cannot put my head back! But he pushed my head back as far as he thought it could go and nearly killed me! I was is agony and very nearly threw up and one of the nurses got me an ice pack for my neck an emesis bucket!

So since yesterday I have been in pain more than usual for my neck with my collar on most all last night and today with ice on and off all day long…right now is the longest with it off… my legs were so numb last night that I couldn’t stand or walk even a couple of steps to even use my walker in the house from chair to chair and so the wheelchair, which scratches all of our too narrow doorways did come in. Over night I dragged myself the few feet to the bathroom to relive myself via the walker which has a nice seat; I couldn’t wake Hubby out of his deep sleep, G-d bless him! By morning my legs seemed not as severe but still not working, only able to manage to get from point A to point B with my weird way of sitting from chair to chair.

Any-who, with ice and the collar on and in bed and out of bed most of the day… here I sit tonight able to tell the tale…and the doctor also had offered to send me to another doctor in their practice who happens to be a physiatrist and I agreed to try him. Anyone who doesn’t know what they do here is a site for you: http://www.aapmr.org/patients/aboutpmr/Pages/physiatrist.aspx

Now why didn’t my neuro send me to one?

And so that’s what happened in a very large nutshell!

In truth I should have asked for a physiatrist, since years ago I had been to the one Hubby had gone to a few years before him, he had gone after his accident that happened at work back in 2005 and we both were very familiar with what they do.

On that mysterious note of why didn’t I think of that?

Allow me to be the very first to wish all of you a very happy good night and kindly ask you to count all your blessings and we will too!

And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
