Eyes ouch!

Tonight, I am at a loss, for my eyesight has been still baffling me. Eye socket and temple pain seems to come and go at the most inopportune moments, like now.
I am still using all my ophthalmic medications, which two are of a thick and salve like composition, diminishing my ability to see properly when I blink or blink again. Below is a possible additional treatment that I will discuss with my neuro doctor when I see her tomorrow. But contrary to some people’s thoughts, once an optic nerve is no longer viable or atrophied like in my right eye, that my MRI showed, nothing can change that and to tell a person as myself who has not had sight in an eye for nearly three years with having appropriate treatment that vitamins will help, is cruel. MRI’s show that an optic nerve is no longer capable of functioning as well as just inflamed, which is capable of being fixed and in my case that mine is not after seeing an eye surgeon and neurologist and being told that the right eye is not even worth removing the humongous cataract from with the optic nerve not functioning any longer. I suppose she meant for the newbie eye problem people, not us oldies well established ones… benefit of my doubts? Anything is possible!
Personally, I’m all for hope as much as anybody, but not foolishly expecting things to change due to others with non medical degrees proclamations, if only their wishes could be true. We all would be cured by now!
I was incensed when this person told me that ‘there are so many supplements that help the eyes.” Maybe for some mild conditions, but tell that to a Glaucoma patient or Diabetic Retinopathy or many of the other diseases that cause people to lose their sight… perhaps to prevent before?
I have said this before about charlatans they come out of the woodwork daily, and I recommend follower beware.
Moving on…
But not too far a field, sadly a psychic named Sylvia Browne told two of the mothers whose children were kidnapped, one the most recent found and the other the young fellow a few years back that was quite alive as well that they had both died. Sadly, the one mother died before learning the truth. The article is below:

“Treatments and drugs

Optic neuritis usually gets better on its own. In some cases, steroid medications are used to treat optic neuritis, because they help reduce inflammation in the optic nerve. Possible side effects from steroid treatment include weight gain, mood changes, stomach upset and insomnia. If you receive steroids, your treatment may involve:
  • Intravenous steroids. You'll likely receive steroid therapy by vein (intravenously) for a few days. Intravenous steroid therapy may accelerate vision recovery, but it doesn't appear to affect the ultimate extent to which you'll recover vision you may have lost.
  • Oral steroids. After intravenous steroid therapy, your doctor may prescribe an oral steroid called prednisone for about two weeks.
*In instances in which steroid therapy has failed and severe vision loss persists, a treatment called plasma exchange therapy may help some people recover their vision.”

Optic nerve atrophy

Optic atrophy; Optic neuropathy
Last reviewed: September 3, 2012.
Optic nerve atrophy is damage to the optic nerve. The optic nerve carries images of what we see from the eye to the brain.

Causes, incidence, and risk factors

There are many unrelated causes of optic atrophy. The most common cause is poor blood flow, called ischemic optic neuropathy, which most often affects elderly people. The optic nerve can also be damaged by shock, various toxic substances, radiation, and trauma.
Various eye diseases, most commonly glaucoma, can also cause a form of optic nerve atrophy. In addition, the condition can be caused by diseases of the brain and central nervous system, such as:
There are also several rare forms of hereditary optic nerve atrophy that affect children and young adults.

Symptoms

Optic nerve atrophy causes vision to dim and reduces the field of vision. The ability to see fine detail will also be lost. Colors will seem faded. The pupil reaction to light will diminish and may eventually be lost.

Signs and tests

Optic nerve atrophy can be seen during a complete examination of the eyes. The examination will include tests of:
  • Color vision
  • Pupil light reflex
  • Tonometry
  • Visual acuity
You may need a complete physical examination and specific tests.

Treatment

Damage from optic nerve atrophy cannot be reversed. The underlying disease must be found and treated, if possible, to prevent further loss.
Rarely, conditions that lead to optic atrophy may be treatable.”

As you can tell by my ability to write I am still not totally blind, but it is getting more difficult daily to see this keyboard with the one eye not focusing entirely, my good eye the left, righty is the one gone since circa July 2010. Imagine severe far-sidedness, but without any corrective lenses to being able to be made to change your view. And at times it is downright like looking through fog. Righty is always in a deep fog as if with zero mileage of visibility.
And tonight I was all set to tell you that I was back on my scooter in Wally World yesterday and hit nary a one!

I would have elaborated on that, but now I will just end on that bit of a higher note than all the rest, as I have said before it is what it is, nothing more, nothing less… allow me to be the first to wish all of you a very happy good night and ask you to count all your blessings and share all your overages with you know who and we will too!

And next time be here or be square, ya hear!?

PS the salves are on only for short times maybe an hour or so, and to clarify what I said in more ways than one, ha, my eyes are cloudy/ foggy when they are well rid of medications after they were put into my eyes hours later, hope that makes it perfectly clear, ha, or not? I’m at a loss too.
