HAPPY VD!

HAP

WOW! I suppose some things should not be abbreviated, ha! Nothing underhanded meant by my title, really, oh maybe just a double entendre to see what it would get me… Let me restate that comment with a proper, HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY FOLKS! Now that my face has returned to its natural sallow shade, instead of blushing red, how was yours? I’ll tell you mine, if you tell me yours? Oh wait, this is getting me misunderstood… We had a day of preparation for the night’s feast, which when married for forty-two years today as well it is our double-day of celebration, not really like sharing a birthday on a holiday, but at this point in our relationship it is nice to have common goals, even when it comes down to getting meals ready for just the two of us. Does anyone know who St. Valentine was and why we celebrate this day with love being the reasoning? “Every February 14, across the United States and in other places around the world, candy, flowers and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint, and where did these traditions come from? Find out about the history of this centuries-old holiday, from ancient Roman rituals to the customs of Victorian England.” Thanks to: http://www.history.com/topics/valentines-day For more info copy and paste the above link. Many ideas have become a part of the mystery and any of you out there who really need to know, know that many sites have many different interpretations of the how’s and whys. Our day was quiet and peaceful, a no stress sort of day, what more could anyone ask for. Good company, good food and peaceful times with the pitter, patter of raindrops throughout the local lands. And so Hubby used our indoor barbecue for our steaks and shrimp, baked potatoes were done in the oven and veggies were zapped in the microwave, since we chose hot, sweet peas and baby carrots, instead of cold salad, due to the chill in the air from the temperatures dropping down into the sixties, brrr! Actually, Hubby was not in the mood to go out in the rain to grab a head of lettuce from the garden. With the oven on, the heat never had to be turned on…! Still raining here, when the reports were for considerably less; this is most unusual, since it is our dry season! But it is a gentle calming drizzle, not violent at all; the kind that does the most good for crops, gardens and lawns etc., barely heard. Yesterday’s winter garden tomatoes that Hubby did pick: And our cake which is all made from scratch, be kind I haven’t made any for a very long time and this was a joint effort… it is Devil’s food with smashed chocolate kisses and almonds in the mix, the icing is also homemade butter cream but with almond extract and cocoanut flakes on top with little plastic push-ins, stating Valentine’s feelings and kisses etc. And so that’s it for tonight’s informative summation of our day, I know its not exactly a moment to moment accounting but Geez it wasn’t that interesting even with me subscribing to the theory that our mundane is never lame and so on that note allow me to be the very first to give you a paper kiss, not a paper cut since I never miss! And Happy Valentine’s Day to you and to all a very good night and kindly count all your blessings and share your overages with you know who and we will too! And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?!
