Follow up to my helping myself with company that offered a freebie and then charged you!
Score Sense this weekend had me incensed!
If you recall, on the eleventh of this month I called them after I found two $29.95 charges on my Visa bill for their ‘FREE’ service, and so I asked them to refund and cancel this since I did not want this, which would have become a monthly charge and the young man Derek said that he would handle it and that it would be removed within one to five days and I thought that was that! Saturday, on our old email address that I did not give to them, they sent to Hubby a denial of the claim of refund and cancellation. And so I finally called my bank and told them the situation and that I was refuting these charges. The bank said fine and that we would not be responsible for them. And for good measure I emailed the Today Show to let them know too, since it was during their financial segment on the fourth of this month they suggested using this FREE service, which I did!
I could not call the Sure Sense customer service department then since they were not going to be open until Sunday at noon to six P.M., and I did call on Sunday…
And a very nice woman who stated that she was a supervisor named Elise in the Orlando area said that now that she sees the problem and that we had just asked for mine to be cancelled without the refund, huh?
Why would I ask for Hubby’s to be refunded and cancelled and mine to only be cancelled. That was rhetorical, since I know you all are smart enough to know that I would never do that!
My main concern was that she fix the problem, and she assured me that she would, and finally today we received another email at our old email address that Hubby’s was approved for refund and cancellation and also the initial dollar charge that I didn’t worry about, hooray! I notified the Today Show that I thought the problem was handled.
So today I thought the problem was solved and I waited, and waited and waited to see if my email would come to our newer email address, actually two years or more old, and nothing, nada, bupkis!
And so, you got it I gave the company called ‘Score Sense’, to me they are beginning to seem more like ‘Nonsense’ another call… I spent some time explaining to another woman named Bonnie, in Colorado, this time what was going on and after she had to speak to Hubby to verify who he was, how insulting!
Any-who, I had already told her that his went through and we received the email for it.
But after half an hour on the phone with this incorrigible woman she finally gave me what I wanted to know… an answer… but not one that was right or really that informative…That my complaint: was pending!
Now, let me get this right it has been just me doing all this calling and handling of the situation and consistently at the same time as Hubby’s since I am the only one on the phone except when they needed him to tell them to speak with me!
Talk about CRAZY!
That woman was, archaically trained to talk to people.
She did sound fairly young but had no gumption in her, when I felt that asking to speak to my husband of forty-one years was insulting to him and me, and he told her that when he had no other choice than to speak with her.
Any-who, if this is not resolved within the week with them I will just have to rely on what my bank told me that we are not responsible for any of those disputed charges.
You see in all my years I do not recall having this situation ever before.
Between our new across the street neighbor having someone arrested then released adding into some afternoon drama, right here in near to River City AKA Port Charlotte. I asked Hubby to take a picture and he did of two Sheriff’s Patrol cars that were only here for about a half an hour. Could we have a crook in our midst? We have had them before. GEEZ and then people wonder why I don’t make friend with the neighbors… Here’s a graphic reason why!
And our across the canal neighbors are being proved to not so be totally truthful… by relaxing blatantly without doing so much after all with their new buddies of the last couple of years… that is so truly hurtful.
And I still am feeling funky in spite of no more mold, and Skipper’s having his tummy issues, where he needed his spasm medication and half of a Pepcid… I am a bit stressed and in fear of relapsing, due to a bit of this and that’s all over the place…
And when my ole chum does not realize that when she says that she never investigates anything medical for herself due to she doesn’t care about herself; only for her Mom, and thinks that I read into things too much, which makes me quite savvy into my own personal needs. PS she professes to be healthy.
Well ole chum your attitude makes me think that you are very depressed and that you don’t think that you count and that makes me very sad for you, when you don’t care to help yourself! Her mom’s hospital did not do a small thing and take her blood for the surgery and so now they have to go all the way back to NYC tomorrow, since apparently they said that she could not have it done locally… well that’s not very convenient, Columbia Hospital, is it?
But I did not say that to her and I won’t since I have to stop talking to anyone except on here.
Since no one ever tells what I write here, do they?
Oh whoa is me, oh whoa is me, what a day… the heck with it all! LOL!
In closing I am sad to say that a really neat man has left us today, he had hung in there for quite some time after fighting off the throws of a stroke from 2004, he passed away from a massive heart attack today, Dick Clark, he was eighty-two. And he will be sorely missed by all his fans, and New Years Rockin’ Eve will never ever be the same again! We all danced to his shows music, even my mom did when I would come home from school.
Allow me now to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you all kindly count those blessings and share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Check for mold... I did.
Sadly when we had our home destroyed by Hurricane Charley on August 13, 2004, a Friday, we also did not have any electric service for more than two weeks. Can you imagine that not having air-conditioning with it being summer in Florida? Temperatures usually averaging high eighties to low nineties, so even opening the windows did not help, and for a while we had to shut them when the sewerage from a plant upstream had been hit by one of the many tornadoes had the waste moseying down all our saltwater canals…talk about YUCK!
Any way at that time I was fortunately in better health then I am now, but I would take cool/cold showers to deal with the problem.
Almost immediately we removed the wall to wall carpet we still had in the few spaces in our home where we had not yet replaced with wooden flooring that also warped, buckled and lifted up, thus us having ceramic tile since then.
Any-who, with the rain coming in the many holes in our roof, and Hubby covering it as often as he could with first tarps and then temporary rolled roofing, until our insurance monies came in, he actually covered it with rolled roofing three times! But he did save all the receipts for the temporary roof work that he did and for that we were reimbursed too until we were able to get professional roofers in to do the work that was covered as well.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to us, but my nose noticed the musty moldy smell and we had that covered too by our insurance, and they, the professional mold people found some and treated it… that can be nasty stuff, even deadly!
Fast forward to today, actually yesterday… I was feeling rather funky again, but with Multiple Sclerosis it is not unusual to feel fullness in your ears, head or throat, but it can mean a relapse is pending…but…
Then I took from my shower my very pretty floor rug off of my handicapped rail in the shower. I put it down for when I get out, and I sit on my chair in there. I also have squirt type dispensers for my soap, shampoo and conditioner, ever since I dropped the large bottle on my foot a few years ago.
And the system has worked well for me.
But today, when placing the rug down on the floor I noticed some black like substance on the well padded not rubber but some type of webbing backing, and I thought, hmm…
Why didn’t I smell this I am very allergic to mold, but aren’t we all?
It has been known to kill innocent people when they least expect it!
A simple bleaching without touching it is preferable to retain the object, but if too far gone bag it up a get rid of it cautiously or even contact the EPA, environmental protection agency.
Ask them what you should do, but not someone for me to call for this minute problem.
Bleach does work well, when you live in Florida and summer comes with high humidity you realize that bleach is a tool for dealing with mold on anything you may have outside, hopefully not inside!
Anyway the picture I am posting is the after the mold was removed, I will have to make an effort to check the back of it more often before I throw it on the floor, hmm?
While I have been writing this evening Hubby made another discovery, outside…Would you believe, now we knew that there had to be a Daddy for the family in order to make all those cute babies that the mother possum that was relocated had but at the time he was nowhere to be found…
But now he has made an appearance, and I was hoping that Hubby would call Animal Control so the family could be reunited, but he said that it’s too late now. Maybe he will tomorrow? Here is the papa:
On that note of interest I think, of some true warnings, allow me to be the first to wish you a very happy good night and to ask you to count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Environmental reasoning...
Are you considered a bad neighbor, if your brand new neighbor is doing something harmful to our waterways and you tell him?
Hubby earlier this evening noticed that the person who bought the home across and slightly adjacent to ours was doing quite a bit of work on their new purchase, which we all believe is admirable.
It has a caged pool and apparently they had a few screens to replace and the pool itself must have needed a resurfacing to make it all new.
No problem with that and we would do the same if we too needed it, but the problem arose when the cement bags that were opened on the driveway where quite a bit of the cement appeared to be wasted and created a powdery mess all over by the workers and instead of sweeping it up; they chose to hose it down into our rainwater gutters that goes directly back into our canal, behind us.
This house is on the inner circle and therefore not on the waterside.
And the owner is from Ohio and new to our area.
So first Hubby called code enforcement that used to take care of these situations when he was a deputy but they switched him to another division and they said they would stop by in the morning to yell at them, ridiculous!
Any-who, Hubby thought that he could try to talk to the new owner nicely and let him know that it, could be a pollutant, and the man went nasty on him and said tell them his workers not him. And so Hubby used his past experience from these situations and let him know that he was a retired marine patrol officer and used to give out ‘Notice to Appear’, for a judge to decide for this sort of thing.
And the next thing we see is one of the workers going down towards the drain with an enormous broom sweeping back this way and all over the driveway into a bucket.
And so I suggested that he call back whomever he spoke to and tell them it was taken care of by him.
The reasoning for trying it the first way was not to make an enemy of a new homeowner; we have so few, mostly renters…they can be rather transient and seem never to stay more than a couple of years if that. We both hope that it won’t cause a damper on getting to know him.
Right now we are the second longest dwellers/ homeowners on our block that is a circle so there are quite a few homes.
The outer circle where we are, are all waterfront, but the inner one is not.
Not that that means anything; we have been longing for neighbors … that were going to set down roots!
Yesterday, I got a wee bit off track with my reaction to another blip in my timeline and forgot to mention that we had gotten the batteries at Sam’s Club and after Hubby installed them he took Skipper, yes that is why he was named that on the ump-teenth maiden voyage of Seas the Day!
How odd that we named her that, while her predecessor had been Miss-T after me of course and a fracturing of the use of my name and the mist spray of the water get it? But at the time I was in much better health way back in 2003 when we got her and every chance we got we went out on her. The one we had in NJ was named BLISS, named for our business, Bamber Lake Irrigation Sales and Service, thus the acronym BLISS, isn’t that so clever? Yep, I was the moniker bestow-er.
I was happy to see them go… not that I wanted to get rid of them but to see the little gal out with her guys that is, the boat and Hubby and Skipper; where they used to go often.
This is amazing to me for I have been feeling rather funky for the last few hours even running a low grade temp and dizzy with head pains even sitting down… but now I am not too bad…that is why I used the term, ‘amazing’, it must be knowing that I have all of you to chat with nightly that keeps me going… and on that accolade back at you all, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you to kindly to count all your blessings and to share those overages and we will too!

We write to...
See what we are thinking?
My mind has been very dark over these last few minutes.
I invited our across the canal neighbors to our home for dinner before they left to go back up north, and they first accepted and then said that they could not due to too much to do before they leave. But they leave every year… Most people would say that’s fine and leave it at that… but oh no not me!
The man has not been waving back to my Hubby from across the canal lately and of course I thought perhaps that there was more to this unfriendly behavior, and so I called them.
I was extremely put off by those two issues and my feelings are sensitive to all of that and I always want to know why people do what they do.
Yes, in reality it isn’t any of my business, why someone changes their mind, but I have no idea if it is truly me or their personal problems.
You see, I suppose I am not that much different than Sheldon in the CBS TV show the Big Bang Theory, don’t you just love it?
Any-who, at times my over analytical mind wants reasoning’s for things, not blatant obscurity of how they think what they think I should know, huh?
Take the non-waving, the man on the other side of the canal wears sunglasses while he sits in his chair, and his female partner said that he was probably asleep and didn’t notice Hubby’s waves; i.e. logical and acceptable.
And she also mentioned that he likes him, meaning Hubby, and so he would never be rude.
More info to compute, does that mean that he doesn’t like me, perhaps?
It is possible, I have been known to rub some men the wrong way (Get your minds out of the gutter), especially the ones who believe that women should be seen and not heard, since I do definitely enjoy being heard. Really, who doesn’t?
But I did not ask that particular question so now I will never know that answer.
And when I first called I told the woman my planned menu of broiled salmon, asparagus and sweet potatoes and she only heard the vegetables and later in my call back said that they just thought it was a vegetarian meal, and now I learned that her partner doesn’t like salmon or lamb!
When asked previously, I thought she said they eat everything.
Listening is an art form that I am still working on.
But we all need accurate information to know how to handle these situations.
I almost was willing to change the menu it is not written in stone, but at this point to what avail and what would that prove that they turned us down because of what we were serving?
Crazy, how my mind works sometimes, but in truth I know many were thinking the same thing, why?
But not many have the nerve or desire to ask.
If this is impolite than not telling the real reason why you cannot or won’t do something is considered to be so-called polite? I am so confused.
As I have said so many times before that I am appalled at the way lying has become acceptable in almost all cultures!
Under the guise of being polite; which seems so counter logical?
Again, is it just me?
Again I am in fear it may be.
Where did I leave my polite behavior, or is that it was never told for me to do.
My parents I suppose were not unlike me loose in their teachings of such things and did give me the expressed feeling that my opinion was valuable and that counted for something…is that so wrong?
My brother in-law in my opinion was way too strict with his son he would yell at the dinner table and make him say thank you and clean his plate and I wanted to cry and say stop!
Children are living beings with feelings and ideas and needs to be hugged not screamed at… so when we had ours, although I did yell on occasion I tried to be more like my parents in trusting them to make good decisions and in most cultures I would have been considered quite lenient, not unlike my parents who I always knew loved me very much no matter what and that ain’t bad! Or is it?
Could I have been wrong all these years thinking that what we know or even want to know is downright intrusive?
I’ll never forget the woman in the waiting room to go in for my physical therapy when I tried to make conversation she accused me of interrogating her and that I was too nosey. I am not sure what I asked her since it was quite a few years ago, but if I recall it was probably why she was there and what type of problem she had to have PT for too?
After all, it was a medical waiting room!
She may very well be one of the many reasons that I mainly speak in soliloquy form when I used to try the ask a question wait for an answer talk back and ask another question and go back forth in that vein for a so-called small talking chat method, most think that you are too full of yourself with my current method, but I am at a loss, I need to find a happy medium, but I am not out in the world that much anymore…and my cognitive ability is compromised by the Multiple Sclerosis!
I did try that weather thingy too, but many don’t really care that much now to discuss that and everyone is tuned into the instant weather channels, since it changes way too often anyway, did you notice that too? LOL!
I try hard not to be such a softy with my feelings. Gosh I have been harder on others than many have been on me!
And so in closing all I want to say, when does anyone really know when to cry, smile or punt…oops, that sounds familiar, I said that just the other night…Geez, I should read me more!
On that roller coaster ride of weirdness and emotional betrayal, and silliness and boy, it’s getting crowded in here, Sybil, Vicki and Kate watch out! KIDDING folks!
For people who have no idea what that was about, Sybil is a book based on a true story of a woman with an illness of multiple personalities, and Vicki is a TV character with a few also who was in the recently defunct show, One Life to Live, and Kate is another character on General Hospital who is at the mercy of the writers who are no longer on that defunct previously mentioned show and now write on her show, the above mentioned GH, so they showed her character reading the others book about this illness called DID, that she most recently has shown to all of us that she has, got all that?
Come on folks it is a joke…about me, that is, but don’t we all have many people in us in reality, our business persona, personal relationship persona, parental persona, etc… and all those different hats that we figuratively wear in our lives, sure we all do.
Well, folks that is more than enough of that, hmm, or should that be eh?
On that Gosh, what was that?
Let’s go with the familiar… allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!
And next time be here or be square, ya hear?
SURE HOPE SO!

Last night and today have been interesting to say the least...
Dear ole chum and her Mom have been settled in and doing fine at home since yesterday.
At first there was a possibility of an infection and I am happy to say that it never happened!
Both women were chilled, but it could be the fact that they have chosen to continue to live up north not down in our always warm PARADISE of FLORIDA!
All kidding aside they seem to have everything under control, which is amazing, but when you have the experience of tragedy in your life you learn when to cry, when to smile and when to punt, hmm?
I know there is barely a human being on this planet that hasn’t experienced life’s low blows at one time or another.
It now has become my wake up call to realize that as bad as things are at the moment they could be a whole lot worse!
And so why worry about worrying, hmm?
Does that make sense to anyone but me?
Sure it does.
And that’s why I love all of you, since you are all brilliant and you read my drivel nightly in spite of what I have to say or not say; gosh I am getting all warm and fuzzy feelings now.
Moving on…
Back to life, Hubby has been diligently taking care of business, thanks Dolly again for those catchy lyrics that I steal often.
He has repaired the dock with that wayward plank. Yep, he cut that little sucker out and put the straight arrow board we saved for quite sometime where that nasty one felt in the mood to do the twist. Oddly enough, if it had been willing to hang in there until our rainy season in June… it would have seen the light and had been straightened out by nature’s touch of downpours!
But most of ye olde board will be recycled, since my front door ramp is splintering and Hubby can cut a three footer from the ole guy… sounds painful, but nah it is done with love and concern for all parties involved and the fact that he will not be totally disregarded like a piece of trash makes anyone realize that even the in-animate can have purpose, and more often than not I do believe. I think that deserves a Ta da!
Hubby also found out that our unused boat décor fixture on our lift, which he maintains every few months whether it needs it or not had two dead batteries that would not hold a charge, yep he tried!
It is decorative, but sadly never used due to me, but we have gone down this road before, and in all these thousands of pages it has gotta be somewhere…
Oh, ok, long story short; I can get on but I can’t get off (get your minds out of the gutter) and the heat would put me into horrendous spasms due to Multiple Sclerosis, got it?
And Hubby won’t leave me even with phone communication.
Back to the fun part of tonight’s dissertation, where was I?
Oh, the boat it has to be maintained anyway and so today was its day. The cleaning is a two day process due to the amount of waterfowl that enjoy using it for the statue that it has become! Geez, who needs the northeast, we got pigeons and more here, and to think that I used to call them doves, but many are, ya know?
A dove sounds better.
And so it was my job to find the best price for two marine batteries and the winner is …..Drum roll please…. Sam’s Club!
So Hubby will be moseying up there probably tomorrow with or without me. You gotta know that the two that we had were from there too and lasted each, respectively three and four years, beyond their warranties!
On that note of some note, I shop for you so you don’t have to, and they also have the cheapest gas right now, i.e. Sam’s Club!
Allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly to count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!

I should have been a diagnostician and I would have saved a bundle in doctor fees!
Being me is awfully hard to do some days but then something happens that exonerates me.
Yep, that’s me taking credit when it is right and taking credit when it’s so wrong too.
Let me explain, just incase you are not following this, okay?
Today was my eye doc appointment and I thought that the anti-biotics weren’t working due to perhaps me becoming immune to them.
Well, doc said that is possible but I should take them anyway but only when need be and I don’t need to do seven full days only periodically, as needed. And you think your life is confusing…
Also my dry eye meds I should use as much as I want or need, at least ten times a day or more and now he added another over the counter medication for allergy eyes!
My thought was with that one… Ta da! My idea.
Thankfully, I flunked the Glaucoma test, again, that is if I had passed it then I would have had it, got that?
And no, so far so good, hip, hip, hooray!
After the doctor’s office we went over to Walmart to pick up the over the counter eye allergy drops and my hair enhancement beautification treatment to maintain my, what I like to think of as my naturally blond locks, since my fifteenth year of being, but this time with some highlights!
And my scent, that is my fancy smancey Island Gardenia by Jovan! It went all the way up another dollar… must be the trucking prices due to the hefty gas pricing.
Like everything else, but GEEZ it’s not heavy or any of our produce either, and we live in the south and what gets me is why don’t we use our locally grown veggies in our local groceries?
No, we ship them out!
Even our famous orange juice gets shipped, what’s wrong with this picture, I ask you?
And why when we do have farmers markets is our local produce more expensive than what they ship into us, hmm?
I’m all for fair market trading, but does this seem fair to you?
Just another curious mind inquiring, hmm?
Moving on…
Oh that’s right, Hubby got a little gift too that magnetized screen door thingy; you know the one, “As Seen on TV”.
For the side door from the garage that he is trying to keep open with the heat he has a few fans in there, but the door being open does help quite a bit, but bugs try to invade his personal space and I had suggested adding a screen door and so when we saw this for under fifteen bucks in Walmart, with no shipping involved and a receipt if need be to return, he went for it, after my cajoling him into this scary little purchase…MEN!
He had installed it when we arrived home and so far it works but only in one direction, out. For in it attaches itself to the metal door that is open for its use. Maybe it has to be tweaked some, who knows…the paperwork and receipt and box have been saved.
I suppose that is enough of my gibberish for tonight’s blabber mouth biddings and so allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

After spending some time on the net this morning...
I did sleep in a bit… that is more than yesterday, this time a whole two hours later; till five thirty-two A.M.
Any-who, while continuing to do my morning rituals and pretty late for my dear ole chum, who is also an early riser I received her phone call around nine twenty A.M.; and that was after the other call from my doctor’s office, but I will get back to the other call later, okay?
My mouse just stopped working now and so I have no idea how I am going to save this… well I am back online and after Hubby did for me something above and beyond our marriage vows, that is he actually copied for me all that I had written up until we had to shut down and reboot this finicky techno marvel!
And guess what?
This thing saved my words too!
Do I have egg on face; hush you all!
Oh bless my soul and Hubby’s too; I am a southerner!
Although, when disgusted with a situation that a person caused a southern gal usually uses it instead of vulgarity that is really what she is thinking, hmm?
Yep, I learned that early on… now a southern gal for nearly twenty-six years, but you can try to take the northeasterner out of yourself but it sure does reappear when you least expect it, more on this later…hmm?
Oh, where was I?
That’s right; my ole chum had called with an update on her dear sweet Mom Clara.
The hospital felt that she should leave them and go home and build up her strength there, since that was their criteria to perform any necessary surgeries.
After two weeks of tests in house that is what they told my friend, and all those additional expenses of a hotel and parking near NYC, that’s right, eighty miles from her home in northwest NJ!
I sure hope this last effort works in all their favors…Our prayers and hopes and dreams are always there for both of them!
Now that little blurb about my doctor’s office calling back that is my eye doctor’s.
Yes, my eyes are causing me grief again with bloodshot beauties…that are not beautiful at all.
I have been on another dosing of the anti-biotic ointment and it didn’t seem to do anything after the seven days again!
And so I called there yesterday to see if perhaps after so many times of use perhaps I was becoming immune to it, sounded logical to me.
I racked my itty bitty brain thinking that it could be allergy related and no, we have tiled floors, I wash our bedding in hot water every week, and our Skipper is hypo allergic, since he needs to have haircuts by groomers and does not shed and we have had him for all of his eight years.
They said this morning that the doctor wants me to come in to figure it out, so no new prescription of an anti-biotic over the phone…oh well, I tried.
I hate having too many doctors’ appointments and I seemed to have gone a few weeks without any, hmm?
I think I broke my own record until now!
Any way to cheer myself up I decided to try an old idea that I hadn’t visited in Gosh several months… a haircut for myself.
All us gals know that getting pampered is what makes us feel pretty, well not pretty anymore in my case, but I guess we could say not mirror breaking?
Since I have cervical stenosis, means the bones in my neck are narrowing I cannot have them wash my hair in their sinks and so it was suggested coming with my wet hair, and so I did.
Recently, due to the Hypothyroidism and being inside more than out my skin has dried out so much it looks about the same as a dry river bed. About a week ago I decided that my regular moisturizer was not doing the job and that I would try good ole Vaseline, why not?
I had some in the cabinet from when I had my pre-cancerous skin lesion on my shoulder removed by laser and the dermatologist recommended it for after for healing that stuff lasts forever.
And so I started using it on my face and hands and feet when I would put socks on them at night and my hands and face before going in the shower to help it work.
But crazy gal me thought Gee these feet could use it too and so, yep you got that right…IDIOT!
I put that slippery sucker gel on my face hands and this time those lovely little shoe huggers!
And I nearly broke my neck!
Don’t try this at home or anywhere!
Fortunately, or miraculously I suppose my reflexes are not as bad as many would think and I made it to my bath chair and even brought my hose shower faucet down for me to quickly hose with warm water and soap that stuff off my tootsies! It was quite a chore too since I also had it on my hands…DUMB!
But all portions of my anatomy did feel softer than before to be fair and it did work rather well!
Oh that last part I called ahead for my appointment but the shop had a sign that if they were very busy it is not an actual appointment and to please be patient with us.
Well, you know me, but I was a good girl, they have sharp objects and finally made up my mind to do this!
On that wacko snippet of my blip in my time, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you kindly to count all your blessings and share all your overages and we will too!

Keep the OOOS and AHHS down, but I think that you may be...
Waiting… waiting… waiting… all good things are worth waiting for, hmm?
I sure hope so, anyway.
Assembly is still underway…
And Hubby said that it will be only another fifteen minutes.
Boy, am I impatient or what?
Yep, I am impatient, are you?
Sadly, I didn’t know all these years that impatient can mean annoyed, irritated, edgy, intolerant, eager, keen, raring to go, (that’s more like it), anxious, in a hurry, hurried, hasty, impulsive, impetuous, rash, hotheaded, enthusiastic, excited (now we are back on track) as I always say TA DA!
Today was a test of all that.
I awoke way too early, first time in a very long time for this early, 3:32 A.M.!
Couldn’t sleep so I grabbed my cup of java and headed over here to turn this techno marvel on with the news, nah the Nate Show to my back on the TV, same one I saw yesterday on ABC at ten A.M., apparently it is on NBC in the 3-4 A.M. time slot, Geez I was wondering why even though it was supposedly cancelled last November that Tampa’s ABC was carrying it but none of our locals were.
Tired, not yet, but soon, while in this exhilarated awake-ness of the wee morning hours I checked our credit card accounts and to my astonishment my free delivery with a ten dollar refund offer became no refund with a $12.95 charge to my account!
Not good to talk to anyone when you are sleep deprived… any-who… I called the credit card company first and told them that I was refuting the charge and that I had no intention nor did I request this monthly charge for free delivery charges that the company that I ordered from provided with my over their limit of fifty dollars for my two dresses and one cardigan last month!
I clicked on the order form that said I was also entitled to a ten dollar refund. Not that rare a happening, why even Macy’s and Kohl’s offer ten bucks back with each order over fifty dollars at their stores, so why not this Dr. Leonard’s online shop?
I will get back to my stories, but Hubby being a man of his word has brought me a picture of the finale of the project!
And I feel that I must share; do you really want to see it?
You know I could finish the story and then shoot the pics in here lastly, hmm?
Nah… drum roll please………………………………………………………………………………………… BEFORE.
And AFTER….!
Back to the story, but wasn’t that worth waiting for? And I see that I am no longer incognito, but forget what you read, okay?
Anyway, I thought the ten dollars off was all from the merchant that I purchased my clothing from since it was right in the middle of my order form.
But I was so wrong… it was not!
And today I was billed on my card over a month later with a $12.95 charge and still no discount of the ten dollars, and to say I was upset would be a vast understatement!
Unbeknownst to my usual cool exterior when accused of not realizing I went nastily off on the woman who felt I was dotty, perhaps I am a bit but that is not for a stranger to say, ya know what I mean?
Any way it was still rather early and earlier still wherever this company was, but in the end even though I called my credit card provider first, which this insolent not nice person told me would not allow for my this months charge to be refunded… well she finally did and this charge would be a monthly fee for would you believe, ‘free delivery!, huh? Is it just me?
But wait, it gets better… you know that ‘free’ one time only credit score company that is promoted on the Today Show by their financial people; ScoreSense.com?
And so again I said what the heck, and loaded Hubby’s and my names up for our scores, it had been a couple of years since we did that, and it asked for our credit card numbers, blah, blah, blah… but this free introductory offer was only a dollar a piece and so I went for it, and sure enough that same day were billed on our charge one buck each… but today we were billed $29.95 each!
Uh, oh, I hear you all saying can this gal be this dumb?
I like to think it as trusting a world renowned TV show with reputable specialists in finance and so I just think someone goofed, and it wasn’t me!
So in the long run they were the nicer of the two and gave me a reference number and the amounts will be removed within the next couple of days!
Whew!
Life can be way too exciting some days, hmm?
On those miniscule harrowing life’s experiences and a bit of colorful happiness in our lives too, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Diligence
Diligence means assiduousness, industrious, meticulous, conscientious, thoroughness, attentiveness, carefulness all good attributes to strive for.
And many of those describe ‘our Hubby’, when he sets his mind to do something since that is how he carries it out.
With that said, today his project, ala my request, was the front door and with my design concept and his ability to do it so far half the beautification of our entrée has begun!
Tomorrow, he will attempt the wrought iron and wood chair that was purchased; gosh it must be nearly a decade or more ago from the store Big Lots. They buy lots of things in large quantities; thus the name and all the bargain prices.
And that chair has had a renaissance of injections of artful concepts of paint from its original wooden blah beginnings the last being a sort of Harlequin design, with peachy wrought iron that consistently would turn pink in our harsh sun or perhaps it was due to how I concocted the color from my acrylics, but many other shades have previously held up. The wooden slats were in alternating black and white thus the idea of a smidge of a Harlequin design.
And I am still not willing to reveal this color palette for my readership, although it is a bit chancy, and may even cause some conversation on taste.
The fact is that the rest of our home is a very neutral Navaho tan… and that is the biggest hint I will allow now!
And after all this is in the state of Florida, oops too much.
This is the third home that we have owned in the nearly twenty-six years we have been living here.
The first two had a quasi lighter version of our northern furnishings, but in golden oak and beiges and fall like colors, etc. Many consider them warm colors; but who wants to be that warm in Florida, really?
Most all of those furnishings were given to our sons when we moved from the east coast to the west coast and then resting in our little bitty home here.
And now being in our final retired little gem of a home we went native with a Floridian flair, but only on the inside, the outside was switched from blue block to white block and finally to the stucco Navaho tan, and a very mild welcoming and acceptable color in these areas. Mostly in gated communities having this shade with their barrel tiled roofs, Tuscany design, and so it is considered rather anti-gauche.
But we are in a semi-tropical area and so many people from either side of our peninsula celebrate that with an outpouring of interesting ideas and more often than not, a Caribbean feel to their homesteads. Miami and the Keys are two of the many that revel in the colors of the happiness that cheerfulness expressed when in tropical tints of peaches, limes or even purples. Many a home reflects that in those areas.
Why even our area of southwest Florida it is seen quite often making tiny cottages stand out.
We have a street here in River City AKA Punta Gorda, called Sullivan Street that has quite a few shops in those popular island shades.
Even as far north as our panhandle in a little bitty artsy village called Seaside; the cracker style homes with pastels were what make the area welcoming to most tourists, of course the authors’ conferences and artists of every type medium that you can think of somehow all ends up there at one time or another.
We were there in 2005, just before Hurricane Katrina hit the area, since it is only a stones throw from New Orleans about four hours by car and I do believe they received a bit too.
Instinctively, we cut our trip short, being only five days out; when we planned on a week or more.
It could have been due to Skipper, Hubby and I all falling ill with different ailments, but at the same time, how odd?
PS that was our last real vacation too.
But less than a year and a half later Hubby retired and the rest is history!
Lovely place and they had an interesting contest of artwork on display there, Adirondacks chairs decorated however you wanted, from people’s likenesses to inanimate objects and beyond, yep beyond; quite memorable.
What a nifty fun idea, hmm?
Any-who, now I have done it, that is given you some more ideas on how to have some fun… you see someone I know thought that my white backgrounds of furniture, floors and walls with pops of colors in accessories was cold, not warm and as I have said before color that it is pure happiness in my book so BOORAH to them!
On that note of too bad the way some think, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
HOT, HOT, HOT I RATHER NOT BE TOO HOT BECAUSE I ALREADY GOT THAT, THAT IS HOT, HOT, HOT… WHAT I WANT IS HAPPY, SO THERE!

Lowe's, Cubby's, veterinarian and Publix...what do they all have in common?
A wrought iron and wood chair, a front door, and a fish pond all benefited from our Lowe’s visit today.
The front door and chair were in need of painting and so paint was purchased and as soon as it is completed I think you may be pleasantly surprised or concerned with, what was she thinking! I’m not telling what’s up, you will have to wait!
The fish pond has been in need of flora to protect its fish occupants for quite sometime, since the local herons think it is in their personal feeding turf. We used to have more than a dozen large fish and many small ones; those being mosquito eaters and we now have six very large ones. (PS all the large ones are goldfish, @ about two dollars a dozen, that grew to about two feet long, yep, they do that!) And so for the last several months we have had to keep a netting over the pond which although solved the heron problem it was not at all attractive. Today we were able to attain the water lilies that we used to have, but the new ones are nearly twice the price, but online they were twice what we paid for the ones that we purchased today!
Any-who, once they grow into the beautiful pink, yellow and white varieties we chose they will give some protection to our fishy friends and perhaps allow the netting to be removed once again. It serves its purpose, but is not pretty at all.
For the last few months the state of Florida has been having beautiful weather and therefore more insects thinking it was their time to come out.
And that includes all the ones that annoy dogs, like fleas.
Skipper has been fortunate since we always have given him his monthly heartworm medication and also his topical flea protection which we would apply monthly too.
But the box of this particular brand, Advantage 11 had not been working and we by this past week had already used three doses with no help for dear sweet Skipper and he has had to have more baths and even we had to spray him with Adams another flea medication.
Today I called the vet and told her about what has been happening and we never had this problem here before or with Skipper. And to be honest we have used Advantage for the last few years and it worked just fine.
I told her that I would be calling the company to let them know what had happened and see if perhaps it was a bad lot or something.
The man I spoke with kept asking how we used the product and where our dog had been, blah, blah, blah… he was annoying me and Hubby for it appeared that he was not willing to see that we knew how to use the product but that in his mind we did not.
At first all I wanted for him to tell us if any other people had a problem with this lot number and I gave it to him, but he refused to check.
He said that he had been there for three years and that they never had any problems before and again he intimated that we must have used the product wrong, huh?
In the end he gave me a reference number to get a full refund and I said great I will take it.
And so I called back my vet and their office said that the doctor would give us another brand that was brand new and for just fleas and is consumed in a chewable tablet, Comfortis, and a six month supply and so we would only have to pay the difference and that is why we had the vet visit, way down in the other direction.
On our way to the vet’s was a deli that we had not been to before. But we passed it often when we went that way and its sign for Cuban sandwiches caught Hubby’s eye.
And we felt that someday we would stop there and try it and today was the day! Cubby’s, it appears that they have been in this location on the corner of route 41 south and W. Marion Avenue in Punta Gorda for nearly eight years, since Hurricane Charley apparently destroyed their Bayshore location. And in actuality they are known for their homemade ice cream which we both vowed to try next time we were in their neck of the woods. The steady flow of customers indicated to us that they have a nice client base and reputation. The Cuban sandwiches we had were tasty too, pricing is typical and the variety of offerings appears comfortable, and you can eat in or take out.
Our last stop was to Publix, again!
We should have stock in that place heaven knows we are there enough.
But we needed more fat free milk that we both drink and the sugar free Carnation instant breakfast that I do share on occasion with Hubby, who appears to be hooked on.
And last but not least more Clorox 2, I prefer without scent, due to allergies but they didn’t have it and we settled on Lavender that I know is supposed to have a calming effect.
Who doesn’t need that?
And then we came home, sweet home…!
We had my homemade soup and a salad with our own vine ripened tomatoes for our dinner tonight.
With those major lunches out we have been doing that or breakfasts for dinner many nights.
It is good to change things up sometimes, hmm?
To many this was just another mundane sort of day, but to me it was fruitful with accomplishments, and that ain’t bad in any culture, eh?
On that notice of knowing that we all have our idea of what is what in importance and excitement, well not those but you get my drift… right? Allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages and we will too!

Bunny hugs all around!
Just thought that would make a nice title.
Tonight’s thoughts for what to say are rather not coming to me as swiftly as many previous nights of my own jibber jabber fluency.
We all know that many of us who talk incessantly just do it just because we enjoy hearing ourselves talk.
At least that is what some say, others believe that the people who constantly interrupt others during a conversation feel what they have to say is more important than what anybody else could possible have to say.
And then they’re the others who believe that it is a form of a mental illness that some have, to always be the center of attention and the only way to hold anyone else’s attention is to not let them speak., and by doing that therefore demand them to listen. But in reality for me, I do believe that it is just because I rarely have anyone else’s ear but Hubby’s and that is why I do it when in the company of others… just hearsay though, mine…!
Geez, listening is the true art form, isn’t it, hmm?
In my case though it may go back to being the only girl hanging out with three boy cousins and them sort of ignoring me unless I spoke about anything so I guess that they had to pay attention… Same reason for years I hated the game of Chess, since they would tell me to be quiet when they would play. Of course they offered to teach me, but I refused; thinking I could never be so quiet to play something that was supposed to be fun…
But alas when I married Hubby and we had sons, Hubby knew how to play chess and I asked him to teach our sons and both started playing when they were not more than three or four years old and they were great and would beat Hubby and each other… and again I was hushed, how truly weird, hmm?
My game was Scrabble, since my Mom and I would love to play, one of the few things as a young gal I had in common with my Mom, who had been a legal secretary in her youth and was an excellent Scrabble player since she was an excellent speller. And so when I finally beat her, it was absolutely the best!
Hubby never wanted to play Scrabble with me though, since I would beat him too. I became quite good.
See, as bad a speller as I am now I used to not be, it has got to be the MS.
We also played the Monopoly game and poker with our sons, which some people thought was just dreadful, the poker, not the Monopoly. PS we played poker for popcorn or pennies or peanuts or, you get the idea.
But I beg to differ with everyone since, due to the poker both were in the top percentile in math skills the younger one on a twelfth grade level at the age of six!
Perhaps due to the Monopoly game is why they both have always handled money very well too.
Memories are here in my heart and missing those two young men, comes to me daily with a rush of emotion and that is why… when you have family treasure them and love them till it hurts, with all those bunny hugs and big sloppy kisses and tickles and whatever else shows that affection that you truly care about them…
And keep those memories locked deep in your soul for your futures to bring up when need be; for no one can ever take them away…!
On that trip of tears for me without that touch or hug or slosh nearby, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and sincerely count those blessings and share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Plans are not something you always do when you are retired that is since you have plenty of time on your hands.
Sometimes you just look in a newspaper or online and see what’s going on locally so you can go out and do it, right?
Well, again I fouled up; I suppose since I did not follow up with a phone call. To be fair I just called now and had to leave a voice message since it is a Saturday evening after five thirty P.M. and after the event was to occur so I don’t suppose I will hear anything at the very earliest on this Monday. And after all it is a holiday weekend too.
The reason that I am telling you all this is because once again I did what most of us do I looked up something to do and trusted what I read.
And when we arrived well within the stated time that the event was to occur around eleven thirty A.M., no one was there and no Flea Market or anything was set up.
And sadly there were no people within the building to ask what had happened since mostly it was all volunteers running the show. It is a non-profit center and there are very few staff members that are on salary I do believe.
Even the main person in charge is a volunteer, which is admirable.
So I suppose it was my fault for not following up with that call.
Any-who, we ate lunch there after going through their Trash and Treasure shop, which is sadly getting thinner and thinner with their selections of items with not having as many donations as they should have. Please local Port Charlotte or Punta Gorda Florida or even further away people in Lee or Sarasota counties donate to this worthwhile non-profit it serves many people from all walks of life with low cost classes, an exercise facility, entertainment etc and a couple of shops and two restaurants too.
After our lunch at only five bucks a piece, mine, seafood Newburgh over rice pilaf and a side salad, and Hubby’s lunch of a sausage sandwich with fruit salad on the side. We shared our salads and had once again brought in our own waters, thus the deal; very tasty.
For dinner tonight I had planned out broiled salmon for tonight early. (Oddly enough, I had decided on it yesterday due to trying to be as different as possible for tomorrow’s dinner plans of the brisket. I do know that I had fish for lunch too, but with me that is doubly fine.) We had bought the salmon on sale at Publix on our last shopping spree and also acquired sweet potatoes and the makings for my Caesar salad with my own Caesar dressing, low cal and still delish!
We do try to eat healthy and we used to buy salmon more often, but have you seen those prices lately?
Any-who, we buy it when it does go on sale like all our other meals are, planned that way, you know, and I bet you do it too.
After we left the Cultural Center we did go all the way down to the Visual Arts Center of Punta Gorda, not far from Fisherman’s Village, actually across from their exit, to see their offerings and they always have showings from local artists which is very nice, they also have classes there and prizes are given for their work and displayed along side their works.
We got there just in time since they were closing by two P.M. I suppose due to the holidays.
It did leave us enough time to scurry through; oh did I mention that it is a free venue? Well, it is.
From there on our way home Hubby stopped in Publix for a couple of odds and ends, a red onion, eggs, and extra virgin olive oil, we sure go through a lot of that. Anyway, fortunately it was buy one get one free, since it is usually way too expensive and we try to buy it at Sam’s Club, where it is much cheaper, but as you have it we did forget the last time that we were there.
On another night of much too much ‘TMI’, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count all your blessings and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
PS I had an email from ole chum again and they found out that her dear sweet mom’s leg arteries are way too small for their experimental procedure and so they are on a wait and hold once again, and she did wish us a Happy Passover/Easter and we wished them a Happy Easter, because that’s the way we roll… and for me that is literarily, my scooter silly’s!
