Doing whatever you want whenever you want to, how’s that sound?
Financial freedom, to have the health of a youngster with good genes for years of enjoyment…a home that’s care free without owing monies on a mortgage, or concerns of insurances for care of it or you or even your vehicles including no worries of fluctuating taxes or utility costs; in other words ‘peace of mind.’
Most would claim that working till you drop or until you are too old to enjoy any of the above mentioned concepts is how to achieve that ‘peace of mind’ or as many realize security.
Less is more is what I have learned to exist with due to knowing that it too has its benefits, where smaller can be better too!
It all boils down to priorities and needs versus wants, true?
Basic needs can easily be met and refinement and class of that can be had by being rational in knowing what is truly important to commit to that ‘h’ word, oh, okay I’ll say it, H-A-P-P-Y, my only reason for hesitation was the fact that I myself have been guilty of overusing it.
But it is a fine word and it does mean what it says, huh?
You betcha!
Moving on… the title for tonight is your, ‘heart’s desire’, which in truth is that which makes you happy, right?
And so that is what you must have considered by late young adulthood or early middle age, and by then you must have considered what is the one or more things you would have to do to achieve that result.
PS Thinking is free.
And from what I noticed and it sure doesn’t have to take too much time out of your busy day, since hopefully most are doing it anyway, thinking that is, ha!
Allow it to trickle into your other important thoughts as a side trip, perhaps?
Some refer to this as daydreaming; which some believe is a lost art.
Brilliant men and women have come to conclusions on many innovations, inventions and medical breakthroughs and the like using this method of thought for the betterment of men/women kind!
Taxing your brain to go into a mode of thought should come naturally though, as we know it is there for the taking, huh?
And so it is not an exhausting exercise, just a wonderful experience of investigation into what is there or could be there, who knows… you could find out things you never knew about yourselves, ya think?
Ha!
Yep, that’s what I am talking about, thinking!
To think is to believe, to imagine, reflect, feel, consider, suppose, assume, sense, deem, reason, contemplate, ponder, deliberate, mediate, mull over, weigh up, ruminate, cogitate and judge and that’s a mouthful, but if you think it and don’t say it you can still eat while doing it, TA DA and HA; something to think about any-who, huh?
On that ridiculous or not so ridiculous germ of an idea, watch out if you do it, it could take off like a contagion!
And continuing on that note of what did she say that for?
Allow me to kindly ask you to count all your blessings and to share all your overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
PS Andy Rooney what’s the big deal really? Except now you (Mr. Rooney) can call it in; which anyone should do at your marvelous age of 92, in my opinion that should have been arranged years ago for you to do!
Personally, all of us are better for seeing him and listening to him weekly and will miss him dearly for those confidential chats… secretly, my unrealistic dream was to be a bit like the great man in my look at our world… but who knows I have 31 more years to try for that since that is when I will catch up to him, if only! That is if only I can stay on some defined topics of interest to all...we will see or not… His send off is this Sunday, don’t miss it!
Speaking My Mind is about: Tobi, who is a middle aged, no, oh all right a slightly over the hill woman with all the imperfections that go with that, and this concerns her daily life's perceptions and experiences.

Distressed?
Distressed means upset, distraught, troubled, concerned, worried, anxious, unhappy, bothered, in pain, suffering, anguished and tormented.
Little did I know at one time that furniture too could be distressed, why I myself have been, heaven knows in distress, for years! LOL!
For any furniture décor novices out there the meaning of ‘distressed furniture’ is furniture that looks weathered or antiqued or as some prefer to call it Shabby Chic.
When we moved into this home our last destination, back in 1998, as I so fondly think of it, meaning our little retirement home, I felt that a homey softened beachy look would be an appropriate décor for this tiny cutey in transition.
This little darling was a fixer upper and we went at it with loving decisiveness inside and out.
But due to Hurricane Charley back in 2004 we had to start the process over again and now we had a new concept on what we had in mind, at least I did, and Hubby gave me free reign on the decorating.
Being this was our fifth home together over at that point, of 33 years of marriage in 2004, and that I had not screwed up previously I decided to go this time with the coastal cottage distressed looked, which is a relaxed homey style.
Although, a few people thought we bought damaged merchandise, not understanding the concept. The best part is that you don’t have to worry about coasters if someone spills anything or scratches in moving things around it all just adds to the patina!
Yes, there are scratches and burns and nicks all over our furniture but purposely there and well placed.
And to many people’s surprise the cost for this look is higher than regular furniture, but at the time it was after the devastation and we had been insured and to be true and honest prices of furniture did go up in price since we had last purchased it many years before but still for a small home we had a budget of 15K and that is what we spent just on the furniture, not paint, art, bathroom fixtures, floor tiles or carpets, which at first both bedrooms were carpeted but later we tiled the master like the rest of the house. To this day I am not sure that was too much, but I am happy with my choices for this tiny five room home.
If it wasn’t due to the fact that I wanted to be back into our home faster than anything, I may have waited to go here and there to perhaps an antique dealer or shows or what-have-you but no I wanted to be back inside our home and out of the 240 sq foot trailer we were living in alongside of our home!
For years when our sons were young we loved camping and we went often using tents, pop-up-campers, and trailers and a fifth wheel over those many years, but somehow spending too much time for the wrong reason makes you not have the same affection for the concept.
No more camping for me!
Over these last seven years we are still tweaking what we want at a much smaller budget of a few bucks here or there.
We do go to home shows and at times I do see things that are speaking to me, as a woman, but I tease and to many a horrified face I say, we redecorate after hurricanes and so perhaps next time.
Too weird, I am sure for many of you to understand but one thing living through a devastating hurricane does when it destroys things you held near and dear it teaches that sentimentality over things is an exhausting wasteful past-time.
And so basically we all have to learn that we cannot change what has happen and to laugh at its possibility of happening again and DON’T GET ATTACHED TO INANIMATE OBJECTS! Besides; I think that would hurt…bud dump bum…
On that little bit of a lesson on how to get over your attachment to things, allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count all your blessings and to share all your overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

When was the last time you watched something you loved get destroyed because of...
Caring too much for it?
I don’t know how many of you out there are cleaning fanatics/freaks or as I truly feel I just prefer things to look nice, clean and neat too? And there is nothing wrong with that is there? NO!
Well, over the many years I have been on this planet I have been accused of being, at times too clean or too neat with straightening things after someone gets up or clearing a table and doing dishes before we were done eating, that sort of thing that I suppose could be annoying to many.
Unfortunately, over these last several years without the abilities I once had I have had to let some of my obsessions go by the wayside and I might add much to my fastidious self’s chagrin.
The only thing I still do or had been doing until we bought a different type of doormat is washing those cute bath-types with cheerful pictorials on them that are rubber coated underneath mats, which prevents slippage on tile which, 90%, most of our home is. And every time they appeared soiled, which depended on what was on them, that is if it could be shook out that’s a whole different story and I would succumb to that, but more often than not many would assume to do it I would put them in the washing machine to get what I considered a really good cleaning! And also place them in the dryer, although if it looked as if it wasn’t going to rain they would possibly be placed out side on our retractable clothesline.
So you can well imagine that the rubber backing was compromised as well as the border trims too would get frayed and would make a disgraceful mess in the dryer!
And so when the two favorites I had one at the front door and one at the back both looked beyond what would be safe and a bit too natty it was time to replace them.
And so sadly with a heavy heart when our number one son was down with his gal pal we had gone to the mall and I found two normal rubber outdoor quality ones that were also colorful and one was fish like its fabric/ rubber backed predecessor and one was tropical with a parrot not too dissimilar in the feel of my hula gal front our door one that is what I try to project upon entry into our fine abode, is a tropical paradise!
Any-who, I asked Hubby not to, throw them out my damaged favorites and so he saved them both!
I had thought I had only requested the hula gal one but he saved both, how thoughtful, huh?
Odd you say and why would you want damaged goods?
Oh contraire Mon Amis those darling charming hand designed with whimsy love artful pieces would eventually, in my mind make adorable wall hangings?
And so today was the day, Hubby had stored them both in the garage and I asked him yesterday if he could give me the hula gal one. I figured our bath mats and one left in the laundry room mat all similar in quality but not tattered could use a bath in the machine and so for the last time hula gal got her refresher and extra softener too!
Hubby asked me what I wanted to do.
Well, I had a plan in my head as usual… a no cost wall art piece danced in my brain and so did it’s location of where it would go once completed!
Needing Hubby has been a lifelong thingy with us.
He is amazingly capable to make wishes come true, and this time he did not disappoint either.
My idea was to utilize a few more of the cedar fence pieces, which seem to go on forever.
We had been given the fence a few years ago by a neighbor and since have encompassed our yard, and Hubby has made everything from an arbor to raised beds for the veggie garden to valances to a rolling cart not to mention all the this and that’s I have come up with like this one today a frame for our rug wall hanging!
He asked me if I wanted it painted and I thought I might since I have all these acrylic paints in my craft draw, but nah this time I decided the rustic look was in and would look just right!
And so, are you ready?
Here’s the finished product/project, at a cost of…. Drum roll please…$0000000000 etc.!
All in all Hubby did all the work himself, since I couldn’t staple it even due to this darn thumb thing!
If you are wondering what the flower thingy is, well it’s our metal ivy floral ensconced mirror in our foyer.
The picture is not crooked again… you see the pitch of the ceiling is angled on purpose, since we have false vaulted ceilings in here and does make our tiny place look larger.
And so I just thought it could be a project that others might think of trying with something they love, and you can make frames from just about anything these days, look around your garage, it’s another way to recycle and is very green.
Now allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to kindly ask you count all your blessings and to share all your overages and we will too!

How long?
Minor injuries or not so minor injuries, how long do they take to heal?
It’s been ten days as of today and so far the coagulation strips have not fallen off my avulsion skin on my thumb injury.
Isn’t it the norm for healthy healing to take anywhere from seven to ten days?
The whole thing is getting quite old and annoying, since I have to soak it a couple of times a day and with all my other meds and shot etc. daily, I just wish it would get better already, ya know?
I guess I sound like a baby complaining; it’s not like I had a really bad cut, this is only about a little over an inch long but it is in a precarious place being on my right thumb, since I am right handed!
As a lefty I am a failure; although, it hasn’t stopped me from trying to become ambidextrous, my maternal grandma was.
You see, I was supposed to see the doctor, Hubby’s doctor who was now mine too a few days after the injury, but… it’s gotta be me… and you know it’s getting to look that way, but we received a notice in the mail a few days after I had the initial injury that he, the new doc will be closing his practice on October 8th, and he is moving out of state!
And it seems that every other day we have been calling for an appointment and his receptionist says he has been staying at the hospital to take care of those patients.
I just need a look see and Hubby just wants additional refills on his blood pressure meds until we find another doctor!
CRAZY! And of course I never mentioned that my original neurologist left a couple of years ago and so did my gynecologist too, it’s gotta be me…nah, it’s the ECOMNOMY STUPID! Sound familiar?
I live in a county where the unemployment rate is still over 11% and the foreclosure rate still is going fairly too well too. Thus with all those non positive economic barometers anyone who has to make a living logically would be questioning the reason why to stay here I suppose, huh?
Sadly, we are a community that does have a high retirement population who does need medical professionals and many are on Medicare but some too could be on Medicaid the way things are, I don’t have any way to know about that, but it is probably a lot!
So I ask you all what will happen to us, the ill and elderly? I am done moving and besides our home’s value is probably lower now too… so not worth the aggravation!
Fixed incomes mean just that, we, I suppose are much better off than many but not as good as some.
It does make sense that a doctor or any professional would look to where the grass was greener to work and even to get paid a realistic income for that work.
And so, I suppose we will all have to become better at handling our own maladies and learn the best way to do it all, hmm?
CRAZY!
I’m no doctor, not even a nurse, sure I was a Mom and then I knew when you had to go to emergency and did that real well! Of course, I took first aid courses and even took CPR for a few years, self help course from the state health department and of course certified Aquacize instructor and grant writer class, but none of that is helpful for any of this! I didn’t even know I had an avulsion of the skin until I read it on my directive on how to care for the injury and even then I had to look it up to really know!
Any ideas on coping with our lack of decent medical help locally please come on and suggest! In my comments corner or email, okay?
On that, what the heck; this is NOT FUNNY TOBI!?
Allow me to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share your overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
PS my thumb does hurt intermittently but it is not discolored only where the coagulation strips were applied and they are a lovely bloody black color! The rest of the thumb is not different from the rest of my pale skinned hand, although my thumb nail still had blood under it no matter how much I soak it (LADY MACBETH watch out!), but still below my inner wrist I still have a black and blue bruise from that time about a day after the original incident that it went a bit weird sensation and pop a black and blue booboo, see not a medico more like a Mommy! HA!

Pandemonium, peace, petunias...OH MY!
Pandemonium: chaos, mayhem, bedlam, racket, uproar, and hubbub, peace: calm, quiet stillness, tranquility, silence, harmony, and serenity, petunias: purple of the Mexican persuasion…
What do these words have to do with one another?
Nothing one might say.
But you would be very, very wrong.
Personally I love my Mexican petunias and to me they are not only beautiful to look at and easy to maintain they are prolific in their growth pattern and that seems to be the so-called problem with them…hmm?
Yes!
Sadly these meek and mild and very likable plants that spread without much assistance are considered an invasive breeder and hard to kill, and are somewhat considered illegal aliens… BUT I BOUGHT THEM YEARS AGO AT A HOME STORE here right here in Port Charlotte!
And to my knowledge they still sell them.
They are also in many public buildings surroundings gardens including Fisherman’s Village.
So what’s the big deal?
”WARNING
Mexican petunia is listed as a Category I invasive species by the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council. This means that it is "altering native plant communities by displacing native species, changing community structures or ecological functions, or hybridizing with natives". This warning applies to all parts of the state of Florida (and other areas with similar mild climates). Where hardy, the Mexican petunia excels at invading wetlands.”

I’m so confused and it’s so pretty and why do they sell them to unsuspecting people to share with friends and neighbors, and even relatives, etc…?
You know some things should come with a warning, ya know?
I did not realize that while I thought I was spreading beauty I was actually spreading pandemonium and not much peace of what I thought to be an easy care plant for the masses which in turn would mean peace of mind… how could I be so wrong?
I feel dreadful.
Little did I think at this point in my life I would be spreading a cancer of flora throughout our delicate ecosystem?
Below are the innocent looking criminals or as many call them bad plants to raise in your loving well-meaning home:
DO NOT BE FOOLED! THEY ARE THE UNWANTED CULPRITS OF OUR STATE ENVIROMENTAL ECO SYSTEMS BALANCE GUYS OR IS IT GALS?
NOT JUST ANOTHER PRETTY FACE!
I suppose there could be something to all the hoopla since Hubby has been known to have to remove them from our lawn where they took it upon themselves to root themselves into and tried hard to multiply!
We find the best way to handle the problem is to keep them contained in our backyard; the ones above are out in our front garden.
They make a lovely three foot privacy fence/hedge along our one side where we still have a chain-link fence so we can see out to the west for sunsets and we also have very lovely Plumbagos and Allamandas as well decorating the fence down to the canal in alternating colors of yellows (Allamandas) and blues (Plumbagos) and purples (Mexican petunias).
To me, it is a festival of color.
On this incredible realism of a time where nature and innocence could be lost forever and do not pleasantly jive in harmony… With my heavy sad heart now due to my no good gardening ways being exposed… allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and to share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Interesting to me and me only...perhaps...or not...
This is the representation of all the elephants in your rooms and so now you do not have to be concerned any longer since you can see that I have him contained,
and so fear no more! I got your backs too! And this is not smoke and mirrors it is very real and if you must know how it is done... I discuss it all, those so-called taboo topics, here nightly, so you don't have to.
TA DA! I thought it was viable to mention in my own interest that no cruelty to the animal that is my model under the empty cage/ vegetable/ fruit bowl who is my elderly onyx elephant. Unfortunately, his trunk was chipped years ago, but I could never bring myself to put him down, and as you can see he has survived in spite of his injury, which some say makes him no longer good luck. Well, I never! (Wink, wink, sure I have) There you go, my bad luck caused by clumsiness, so typical of me!
What do you think of my opening monologue?
Oh, wait, this whole thing is a monologue every single night!
No actual repartee just all one sided talk/write to me ala one way discussions on everything from A to Z and everything in between…OH WHAT FUN, huh? A wee bit psychotic too? Nah, than all writers must be…well, we all know the answer to that one, some of the best were, a little off that is, but drug induced. Perhaps, some of my legal physician prescribed ones was what once were the ones that were not, legal that is?
Well over three years now of this nonsense and I have been aiming to try for silly talk too!
After all my goal here, and yes friends there is a reason for all this… (Imagine me spreading my open hands around in circle as I explain the why, OK?)
Is to entertain and secondarily to possibly inform as much as my wee brain will allow and slipshod method of fact checking helps me be the long winded provider of interesting commentary nightly for your consumption, got that?
Okay, I’ll wait for you to catch up; I do realize some of this is way too deep for many with common sense brains and no leeway for Tom Foolery or in my case Tobi Foolery!
Long enough, what do you think I have all night?
Ha, of course I do… what else have I got but this?
Sad, but true.
Geez, that’s NOT FUNNY!
Moving on… apparently many do read what I put on my Facebook wall occasionally or I should say cumulatively over many seasons… today I did hear from some one from where I grew up but they did not read the part that I was from her town which is right there on my profile page!
Whoa, upsetting!
Just when you think you are reaching people they foul up your thinking, but gosh I discovered that many are just surface readers just like many are surface cleaners.
You know the types that sweep the dirt under the rug or don’t move the stuff on the shelf when dusting?
We used to call that doing things half-assed, I think that description still applies with people who like your link but don’t click on it and actually READ IT!
I suppose there is nothing one can do about that, and now in my own unique way I have probably alienated more possible prospects… to read my blog nightly.
You would think at this point with my insecurities of popularity that I would give pop quizzes on what I wrote to my public, but noooo……… not in my true nature, although from this you might now know I have thought of it.
Stat wise, weekly, ten countries read this trite dry rot of mine and I have had over nine thousand hits on my posted blog in the last two years since the first year the count was lost due to a computer malfunction, but if I recall it was also a few thousand as well, and for all this I should not be so self doubting, but all us artist types are, ya know…LOL!
Kidding, chill and I will too.
Did I meet my promise of entertaining you tonight?
If so, let me know, if not keep it to yourself.
On that blanket statement of my true oblique self portrayal of me allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count all your blessings and to share all your overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Today I was so looking forward to going anywhere, and so I searched
the net as I always do to see what was going on locally.
Both Hubby and I got ready to go since I needed to take my shower by the time he got up and soak my thumb avulsion injury and take my Copaxone shot and dry my hair and my thumb and re-bandage it… and get on my cooling vest; Hubby loaded in the icepacks for it.
And then I had to do a little of this and that to be ready to get into the car all to get going for our fun time out for the late morning.
We figured we would only stay for about an hour or so, and we left the house at eleven A.M. knowing that it wouldn’t be over until one P.M….
Our arrival there was about eleven twenty or so, give or take a few minutes. There were not many cars in the parking lot and we could not see any tables from where we entered and so Hubby drove round the outer circle to see perhaps if they were set back a ways…
And after a loop around to be certain I suggested to Hubby maybe it was on the ball field and since he had noticed that the gate was open and the parking lot closest to the stadium did have a sign but it said, ‘Open House’, not ‘THE GREAT Garage Sale,’ or even not so great sale. He went up to the open gate to find someone to ask, while I waited in the car.
Shortly Hubby was back shaking his head and said that the Sandcrabs were playing a game and there were about fifty people in the stands, and no garage sale tables
Just ballplayers and fans in the stadium seats.
Darn! Disappointment was thick in me.
I knew I wasn’t probably going to buy anything, except if I saw some neat looking hooks that I decided were an idea to start a collection and usually only a few bucks.
They would be on either side of our foyer mirror, the cute framed post cards I placed there from our trip to Seaside Florida back in ’05 stuck to the colorful frames I made
And there was no way to fix them without ripping them out of the frames and then tearing them to shreds, and so I thought about collecting interesting coat/hat/sweater hooks to place on either side of the mirror that they now flank. That is what I thought would be an inexpensive useful item to acquire, oh well…next time…
This is late not because of my starting late but perhaps when I tried to copy and paste the above info from its source it rearranged my margins and this has been a heck of a job trying to get it all where I could read what I wrote…
Any-who, back to my story... sweet man Hubby, asked me what we should do now, he had no idea what to do to have some excitement in our not so boring but not so calm too lives.
And so I suggested seeing if anything else was going on at the Beach Complex which was on our way home if all else failed.
We drove in and nearly as quickly drove out, nothing there either; it’s one of the ones I could find a site for.
But Hubby came through and suggested since it was nearing lunch time to go to a fast food chain, since we did have some cash on us (plus if we went in the house had lunch and then went out again Skipper would go berserk…and grab a quick lunch out would be less upsetting for him), and Long John Silvers was on our way wherever we were going and now served grilled fish too that is healthy and at bargain prices. The itinerary was decided on the Charlotte County Historical Center. That is where our book Summer of Storms is sold, published by the Peace River Center for Writers and my entry is on page 58?
Well, the books weren’t out, and they said they were in storage and would put some out and so if you go there ask for them for one.
The volunteer there was quite talkative and we seemed to be having a talk off! She and I spoke constantly, she is the cousin to one my old friends from the Writers’ Group I used to belong to.
Enthusiasm was abounding for her to explain all the historic paintings/water colors that portrayed buildings that told the story of our counties beginnings.
Many I was familiar with, since her cousin is also a history buff, especially on Punta Gorda memorable topics, since it is where she had been born and raised.
And so the visit was pleasant and access was easy for my scooter up their long wide ramp.
All in all the day had turned out to not be as big a disappoint as I first thought it would be; although we did arrive home around two thirty, and that was along day out for me.
Why you ask?
Not as one would think due to all my ailments, but I guess they could be responsible for that, but I had awoken around 3:42 A.M. and could not go back to sleep…
On that comment of interest perhaps yes or not…allow me to be the first to wish you all a very good night and to ask you kindly to count all your blessings and to share all your overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
PS I did call the toll free number also listed when that local number gave me a recording and they told me they would have someone get back to me to see if the GREAT GARAGE SALE had been postponed or something, who knows…but the woman took my name and phone number and so may be the mystery will be solved, huh?

Bad vibes cause bad economic times...
Have you ever banged your head against the wall when you knew someone you cared about was doing something so stupid and you knew that you could help them, but they just wouldn’t listen?
Oh sure you have, especially if you raised children into their teens and beyond!
Well, sometimes when you head up a family, company or nation people who asked you to do something to solve their problems just don’t want to do what you know should work without creating a whole magillah out of it, and so you are unable to get the job at hand done.
Every night I listen to the news and of course most of the day too, but this refers to more of the national news which being only on an antenna with a converter box, but of course, we get just nightly.
And it tears out my heart to hear the frustration of our elected officials from both houses, the speaker and all the way up to our president arguing constantly and not getting the job done for us Americans who really need for them to do something for us!
I feel like a child with parents on the verge of divorce. They definitely need a mediator at this point…maybe a counselor?
Saying that this is his/the president’s one and only time he had to fix twenty years of problems in less than four years and that this is his/the president’s last shot now he should go after only one term.
And I wouldn’t blame him to throw the towel in with all the infighting since no one in Washington, D.C. seems to want to play fair.
You don’t halt everything just because you have no idea how to fix it, since your cronies need to salvage their low tax base and not pay their fair share.
Think people, think!
We need a reason to feel we hired the right people to do the job, but so far you all look like you should all be one term-ers too!
The new prospects, in my opinion, are iffy at best and too un-wielding at the very least.
Flip/ floppers, foot in the mouth sayers, stupid severe conservatism, crazy prejudicial remarks and even at times going off the deep end with their commentary; I say slim pickings in this US of A world! SCARY!
But I am only on the outside looking in…
As a superior person than to me, once said, no one has eighteen months to wait for them, meaning our government, to keep battling it out how the job of jobs comes or about!
People need answers!
And I am a people too, and so I demand to know why it is taking so damn long to get this way too important aspect of daily life straightened out?
I am that child that once believed in one government for the people by the people or whatever we were taught oh so long ago…
It narrows down to this… we need each other and so sometimes the higher ups should just learn to listen to all their constituents not just their financial supporters, you see a vote when you get down to the nitty gritty is what really counts in the bigger picture, true?
And even the poorest of us got that!
Does anyone but me think that the reason that one of the many reasons that the Stock Market is so volatile is perhaps because we as a nation have not been standing together as one, and that does the quote, “United we stand; divided we fall” sound familiar to anyone, but me?
I get nauseas nightly with listening to the news reports of how our markets US and international seem to not know what to do either…maybe we could all try harder to think instead of argue. Just a thought, but that’s all I got.
Too much time on my hands…someone please I beg of you learn how to cooperate, huh?
We as a nation/world are depending on you with our fate in your hands!
On that not so funny but concerning bit of what’s going on today… allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count your blessings and to share your overages and we will too!

Be brave, be smarter, be happy, be open minded, be thinner, be better looking, be good, and be ready for anything!
What if we were told to be a coward, or to be dumb, or to be closed minded, be fatter, be ugly, and don’t you dare be prepared for a thing!
If the world was running in a negative parallel universe then I suppose that would be the case.
Sales pitches try hard to sell you something and so do mean-well people who try to sell you a bill of goods…
But what if you resisted following their fair, logical intentions meant to get you to become your very best, what would that say about you?
That you were maybe an independent person or a free thinker?
Or that perhaps you were one of the few who were so contrary to all who tried to help you and so to your own disadvantage of your own welfare and you did the extreme opposite with fear of your true self being compromised and possibly lost?
We know little about real motivation of individuals about doing what we hope would be considered the right thing.
But whose idea is it what the right thing is?
Often we hear about over achievers who crash and burn out trying too hard to be perfect.
I knew a few.
Those who graduated high school at fifteen and college at eighteen, wow those were ‘wunderkind’.
Some I was happy to call friends.
But miraculously many went on to become average people blending in with us regular types with no one ever knowing they were once considered brilliant and had so much promise!
So being smart can have its ups and downs, beauty too, thin too.
I tried both, pretty and thin, and to be honest at the time I was successful.
But now I am neither and I am still me, what I can’t understand is why many cannot get past the outer shell of that, which is still me.
As far as getting smarter when you aren’t brilliant everyday you can open your mind to learning something new, and that kills two birds with one stone.
Now when we have an experience that is horrendous in life, we tend to learn to be prepared for whatever may come next in that similar realm.
What brought on this train of thought, well my seventy-eight year old first cousin, my father’s sister’s son has gone back to college! And I believe that is just incredible, since he graduated years ago at the regular age for that and he was an engineer/city planner and raised seven beautiful, brilliant children all with Ivy League educations, and so I was quite impressed when I found out via an email today and sorry to admit a wee bit jealous too.
But other than type one diabetes that he unfortunately inherited from our grandma. I believe he is in good health for his age and lives in a state where excellent schools of higher education are plentiful! Hooray!
Nice to know that nothing stops some of us no matter how old you are, and that brings me back to learning…
To say we never ever stop would be redundant but that is SO TRUE!
But dear cousin of mine you don’t necessarily have to go back to a formal education to learn, you can ask questions of people, utilize the internet, go to the library for research and investigate what you care about and go to workshops and conferences for your own particular industry and on and on and on…
Learning is limitless and the ways to do it are too!
All I am saying is that it doesn’t have to cost you a dime if you want to find out anything they’re more ways than I can count to… for math also, just about anything or I should say everything!
Life is what you make of it.
How profound, nah you’ve heard that one at least two trillion times before…gosh did I just count to two trillion?
I sure did and that is how many or more ways that you can find out how and what interests you and brings that spark back to your heart for wanting more… NOW GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER!
Any-who, dream on and you too will find your heart's desire and PS don’t let anyone tell you ‘TO BE,’ anything unless you want ‘TO BE or NOT TO BE', see I even know Shakespeare, ha!
On that silly, that I hope you all appreciated for that is why I am here… and also to allow me to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count all your blessings and to share all your overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
PS a thumb update, my avulsion of the skin injury, look it up its nasty...see I did and I learned something new...
you see I now have a smaller bandage! TA! DA!
The bill for the whole Saturday hospital run to stop the hemorrhaging was $1129, but due to no insurance I received a 75% discount when paid within in 24 hours and so we paid the whole thing of $282, on our credit card! That will be paid off next month when it comes in, amazing! And thankfully not too worrisome, huh, all we have to do is not eat out for a while, perhaps a few months, but that is doable!
If the world was running in a negative parallel universe then I suppose that would be the case.

Jobs work from home, free money, body enhancement pills and contraptions, deposits into my accounts, meet singles of a specific religion or sex or ethnicity or race...
Say it anyway you want to, but I think this neo-authenticity of language of expression has it nailed correctly, a rose by any other name would stink just as bad and we call it not with love but with disgust, SPAM!
Daily we all receive it in our Spam files, how weird is that?
We have a separate file for this crap!
Sure, we don’t want any of it, but for some strange reason technology has decided with their knowing ways that it’s not good enough for our REAL EMAIL, but just right with the ability of forethought to relocate it to our special file for this ridiculous non-beneficial lack luster, insulting and mostly not accurate for our true needs garbage infiltrating our online waves…
I don’t get it, do you?
Oh sure, I get it like we all do, the SPAM mail that is, by the tens and twenties in numbers sometimes and some days more than that!
Advertising is one thing but knowing to whom you are trying to sell should be part of the how you market your products.
Listen, I am a handicapped, meaning I need help with walking from a scooter to a walker to maneuver around, and I am nearly blind with my right eye being totally legally blind and the left fogging over from my cataract lens needing to have laser surgery from my initial surgery to replace my lens back in 2010, and Hubby and I have been married for over forty-years. Not to mention I am a heterosexual Caucasian Jew and to add to those minorities I am also a very, very short woman, also a minority!Oh, I forgot did I mention that I am obese too, have you, no longer considered a minority in this plump world, but nasty just the same with stares from people who are better than you, oh wait, that’s thinner than you, ha!(not really funny, but until you’ve been here you can’t tell me, true?)
So at sixty-one I am no longer driving, and therefore not job hunting out there or here, or sadly dancing anymore or looking for a mate. I really don’t think that I need any body enhancements since I have too many and would be more than happy to share with anyone who knows the right way to have them surgically, but carefully removed and taken away to someone more needier than I, hmm?
I am a curmudgeon at best and a pain in the derriere at the very least.
This is my only outlet to sow my emotions into the outer-lands, so to speak…and so I am good for now and my near future.
Now all those checks they want to send me… I say send them!
But don’t expect me to open your SPAM MAILS before I delete them than you have no business offering them… Oh and by the by, you know all those Dell products and Apple Iphones and Ipads too, send them over too I will be more than happy to use them, but I am not signing for them and no you cannot have my only account number for my checking that has the habit of whenever we put some money in, like once a month we take it out, and that’s the way it goes, in and out, bills and necessities, got that?
And so if you found more accounts in my name send them to me too…
I will accept all freebies as long as you know that I do not give out my social security number, checking account number, credit card number or anything that personal, and neither should any of you chumps either!
I might have to clarify here, I mean the idiots who request that for validation for their dishonest employers who want to steal what little we have or you have, and so, in closing…
Life goes on, sure does, and the more it changes the more it stays the same…or fill in the blanks with your own clichés…And remember that…
We all have another commonality once again junk mail via technology, yep that’s the same stuff we still get via snail mail but not as much. What’s with that, but that’s a good thing, huh?
Oh sure Spam has been going on for a long time and to be honest I have only been online for about thirteen years, and of course its’ been all that time.
But I know for us that it comes and goes in spurts and just when you think you have a handle on stopping it… it like a bad penny comes back again!
You gotta laugh, but be careful too!
On that realization of more of life as it truly is allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count those blessings and share all those overages and we will too!

Funny
Yes, we all know that life can be ridiculously funny if looked at that way, or not?
But the rumor has it that laughter is the best medicine and so I am now on the look-out for the more funny in things, huh?
Let’s put it this way if funny has the impact that smiling has, why not just try it, as we all know this too is free for the investigating.
That is, if we can think of things that make us smile and laugh!
To me the facts that although our home has windows we look online at the radar from all the different available sites we keep in favorites…And why should we do this?
One guess from me would be, to see if it is raining?
YES!
But sometimes I must admit it is more in our interest to see if the storm is coming towards us, and then I guess it is a good reason to check it out, hmm?
But in reality unless it is a major storm like a hurricane, why would we bother, it’s not like we can change it’s direction by checking it out, hmm?
To me this logic can and has become silly, and even Hubby who is now in the living room with an enormous picture window of nine feet width he asked me if it still raining?
Huh?
You see, the swimming pool is out this window where I sit and the raindrops which at times can be quite entertaining or calming depending on their size, and yes size in this case does matter… They appear to make the diagnosis of if it if it is truly rainy a more definite concept, got that?
Sure you do.
There is nothing like recognition of the situation to make one feel in control of, WHAT, the weather?
And as much as we are inundated daily it seems with bad news we have been known to not only watch it, but read it. Some may say that is overkill, I think not… newspapers need friends and have news too! And soon may become a lost art form… of doing it, get your mind out of the gutter… reading and holding onto something, don’t go there again…ha!
But we do that online here and so we are green not wasting all that paper that thanks to us and us alone we have saved probably one whole tree over the last several years, how about you, can you hold up your head and proudly say that?
And sometimes/mostly even have the news on in the background on the TV too, and that saves our embarrassment in not knowing what’s going on somewhere?
Is this too much too soon, or not soon enough, all this realization of our simple not so simple silly strange lives, huh?
A common expression is that ‘life goes on’, now why do we say that like it is some profound awakening of wisdom as if a child of three noticed that the sky was blue and just asked you why?
Nah, sorry folks that is a given, yep, LIFE DOES GO ON!
And may I say with or without you too.
Now the best I can give you in the form of a profound idea is that we have two choices in life and are you interested in knowing my theory or not?
I’ll wait while you decide…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
OK I think I have been patient long enough, and so with or without your approval I will speak/write once again… here’s my deal… your choices are to be happy or not to be happy, and remember what goes with each emotion, good or bad, simplicity at its best, and friends that’s all I got!
The rest and the best is your job to make that happen, by remembering even though things at times seem just awful, we all have the power to make a cake out of cake batter, TA DA! Sorry, but I do believe the ‘lemons into lemonade’, metaphor has been way over used these days… Another suggestion is if you don’t like mine think of one of your own and make it as silly as you can!
In closing Hubby just brought me a picture of nature at its finest, no one could buy this sort of thing since it is priceless…
And this is the best part of a rainstorm, the afterglow; don’t you think?
On this glorious funny way nature has of doing things just when you don’t expect it allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and remind you to count those blessings and to kindly share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?
PS And now you can tell everyone, hooray!

What are they crazy?
Tonight raises an unbelievable dilemma for long time lovers of the boob tube’s season opener’s!
Yes, this night it appears to be like no other I can remember and I wanta know whose in-charge of scheduling all these prime time shows on different networks to premier their new year’s offerings all at the same time? So UNFAIR!
I demand a recount and now before prime time starts at eight!
Listen this is NOT good at all, they have placed, ‘Dancing With The Stars’ opposite ‘The Sing Off’ and the all the new year’s beginnings of comedy shows on CBS, not to mention Ashton Kutcher’s replacing Charlie Sheen’s job all tonight, how dare they?
True he and the Winning Guy were making buddy, buddy last night during and after the Emmy’s but still we have no idea how that show is going to unravel its new story line incorporating the new guy into the Two and A Half Men saga, with big brother/uncle’s demise, huh?
That is one cliff hanger that wasn’t hanging when we left them last year, now was it?
Decision making is not easy with this being so important to all my future understanding of what’s what in the TV-land realm. And no I do not have a DVR, and to be honest and a bit ashamed, I’m not quite sure what one is. Or if it would have the ability to keep up with this evening’s travesty to viewers who love ‘em all, programs that is?
Hubby thinks he has it all licked with his nonchalant attitude that we could find out in summer repeats and therefore he feels that we should watch, Dancing With The Stars, but what about The Sing Off, those both don’t go into repeats that I am aware of, are you sure, sure?
Gosh, just when you think you got it all figured out they do this to us, WHAT ARE THEY THINKING, REALLY?
Who said life was difficult so get used to it, must have been in the programming department of all the major networks! Heartless I say!
What do they think their average viewer is some type of idiot without needs?
We need to know that we can depend on them to keep our viewing orderly, not unlike the reciprocity of the Talk show two co-hosts Sharon Osborne of also Americas Got Talent and Julie Chen of the Talk and Big Brother they seemed to make sure they did not conflict their programming with one another, both ‘TV Angels’ who understand us as the consumers of their offerings and in my book should now venture onto the telling the other guys how to do it nicely with respect for not only the shows themselves but us the viewers!
In closing I am baffled and terribly confused and may go to bed early… BUT NO, then they would have won!
Decisions, decisions, gosh why me, why now, I ask you?
Anyone who knows me knows I have enough on my plate… and now this?
With this horrendous effort to put laughter back into my blog and make me realize how life can or should be more than happy if we try no matter what. Now allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you to kindly count all your blessings and to share those overages and we will too!

Sadly, I will be writing this blog tonight.... for all of you...
Due to my not feeling too bad! I was kidding about the sadly, ha!It's me, Tobi! Not for me sadly anyway, for you, I sure hope not!
Moving on…
Hello, readers…
Today, as one can well imagine was a day of resting and twiddling the day away… nah!
I vacuumed, and Hubby took the vacuum away from me and finished but I did about half and got a few loads of laundry done as well, as I did manage to get my own lunch and help Hubby with dinner; he did make my Carnation instant breakfast this morning though!
I napped a bit, and that was like being in a stupor, who knows why that was, could it be all that blood loss? Nah, it wasn’t enough to cause shock but a little bit of light headedness.
First thing this morning it was great to get back into the shower and wash my hair and the rest of me too, albeit with plastic bag over my hand dressing, been there before when I had hand surgery back in August of 2001 for basilar joint arthritis and wore a cast, flashback, LOL!
You see, yesterday when I sliced a chunk out of my thumb it was about seven forty-five A.M. and I was still in my nighty, and the bleeding was so severe, and running down my hand, even an hour after it first happened and again in the hospital for another hour still… What I was doing was making home fries for a nice breakfast for Hubby and with eggs so I thought and I forgot to use the pusher and instead used my hand to put the potato through and the rest was a stupid mistake on my part, and so use the pusher not your hand! And I should know better since back in the 1980’s we owned a restaurant and I was one of the chefs! So as simple as taking that shower then, it was not going to happen, unless I wanted, our white subway tiled shower to be painted with blood as if a mass murder had been committed in it…no way Jose!
And so this morning it was refreshing to be able to climb in and feel oh so clean!
I shower everyday like most and so it felt, you know, unclean without that one.
I am able to write with both hands since I don’t have to use my thumbs, but I suppose some do, but I don’t.
So I guess I will be annoying all of you once again with this jibber-jabber, talking/writing noise. Nope, I am not on any additional drugs! Just thought that was my way of staking my claim on all of you, huh?
Perhaps, I am still a little bit lightheaded from the blood loss. You know me; I will take what I can get in the way of any excuses! HA!
And so with that powerful observation of my medical abilities still on the line allow me to be first and also to cut this short tonight and to wish you all a very happy goodnight and ask you kindly to count all your blessings and share all your overages and we will too!
Next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Attack of the mandolin
Tobi is in pain and cannot type tonight, the reason is that she got up this morning and decided to make a nice breakfast. She was slicing a potato with a mandolin to make home fries and it attacked her and took a large piece of her finger off of her right thumb.
Tobi and I tried to stop the bleeding for over an hour and could not get it to stop so I wrapped it in tissues, paper towels and sealed it in tape and we went to the hospital.
At the hospital they saw that there was no skin to stitch so they used a coagulating agent on it and they even had trouble stopping the bleeding. Finally, they stopped the bleeding and gave her a tetanus shot and I brought her home.
She is very tired and her finger is still throbbing so hopefully she will be back tomorrow night.

Daily we look at ourselves in the face in a mirror...
Whether we are happy with what we see or not means often how we react to the option of what we can do to leave well enough alone or choose to change what we see…
Or perhaps not!
Gosh, now you and I have the option to go under the knife for major changes or use at home products that are less invasive and consist of everything from moisturizing creams to, rough sponges that remove loose skin or scouring machines that claim to do it with less effort, but now we have at home kits with chemical peels to a bit more invasive DIY Botox injection sets!
If the truth be told when I was turning fifty-five and had a birthday coming up Hubby asked me what I wanted and I said that I would love to get my two facial scars removed, one being that dog bite above my lip which took forty stitches that time from a plastic surgeon and the biopsy remnant on my left cheek that took one stitch from a dermatologist and fortunately was a benign lump. Most people are kind and say that they don’t notice them, but I always do believe they are just being polite and to have them lessened or maybe totally removed would have been my wish, and so I went to the local plastic surgery physician to find out.
The doctor said he couldn’t remove them but could do a couple of procedures that he let me know were not covered by insurance, which at that time I did have, and were not surgeries but injectable temporary remedies. Restylane a sugar based injectable filler, and Botox a highly toxic wrinkle remover!
They would be costly but those times were different and it was before retirement and all and this would be my birthday present and so I called Hubby and he said go for it, and so I did.
The results at first were worse than my scars themselves with redness seemingly making them more obvious and I had been sold a cream, but right now I couldn’t tell you what it was. I was to apply it accordingly daily a few times a day and in time, a few days all would look much better and sure enough in my mind’s eye it did!
I felt better about what I thought took away from and that people might be looking at me for all the wrong reasons… but it was not that extreme the transformation, subtle and lasted more than others I have known or heard about, more than a year I believe.
So now, with this, at home version of Botox sounds intriguing but I don’t think at this point I would do it to myself, another needle and who needs more, ya know?
But here’s the rub, rumor has it that Botox could be a helpful asset to Multiple Sclerosis, not a cure, but another feeling better thingy, hmm, that makes it a much more interesting prospect and cost effective now although not covered by insurance, which I don’t have anyway now…TA DA!
I just think that now, like many other medications used for one thing can be used for other things is rather fascinating, don’t you?
I hear tell that it is also a temporary cure for severe perspiration/sweating of the feet or armpits too, Botox that is.
See, not all uses are for aesthetics, huh? Although wet pits or soggy socks, you sure could use that as not a pretty picture and a few good reasons, I suspect… but that’s a matter of perception or is that perspiration, ha?
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
So many things today have dual/multiple uses, unlike Multiple Sclerosis which by the by means many white matter patches/lesions or booboos on the brain and or spinal cord, which is not good!
On that tiny lesson of some hopeful interest allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Another company that has left us...
Ah America how I love our American products, huh?
Nope, don’t have very many anymore, and sadly most of us cannot afford to buy the ones we do have or may possibly not know that we are not buying American made…, what?
Many companies that have long histories of starting up in America such as the one I dealt with today, Farberware had started here in the good ole US of A way back in 1900 in NYC, NY.
You know the company that is world renown for pots and pans, electronic appliances and cutlery and such?
Well, did you also know that for years they have been manufacturing good ole American pots and pans and knives and all that sort of stuff for a smaller niftier price in CHINA?
Yes, them too…
It’s our faults you know, why you ask?
I know you didn’t but let’s say you did.
Because we cannot afford to pay for products produced here since our factory workers demand to be paid BIG BUCKS and they have BIG UNIONS to help them get it and benefits and everything they rightfully need to live here in America to buy what they need to care for their families, like the rest of us…something to think about, hmm?
Not that I am saying that anything is wrong with that, those unions were started to make sure our American workers got paid what they deserved for an honest day’s work and to me that still sounds good, but…
What’s an appropriate amount to be paid for hard labor in this world that moves so fast and costs so much to live in, why everything keeps going up in price, living in a home or renting an apartment or whatever and eating out or even in has sky rocketed to beyond belief in the last decade!
And so when you think about it we are responsible… it’s a slippery slope… the more things cost the higher salaries we all need to keep up with just the necessities in life an almost vicious circle, hmm?
Back in the 1950’s you were comfortable if you made ten thousand a year, twenty-five thousand in the 1970’s meant you were a good solid middle class, but now the poverty line for a family of four is below fifty thousand!
You see, that’s what I am talking about…
Everything cost accordingly what I want to know is how it all went south?
We do have an inkling that when it costs more to make something that naturally that cost goes back to the consumer to make up that additional cost, but why did it go up to begin with? As near as I can figure when the shipping of materials goes up due to fuel costs then that’s where it starts and so on and on all the way to us…hmm…But where does the fuel come from that initially has gone up that started this snowball rolling down this endless hill of disaster; from our oil suppliers, maybe?
How we got here is not as important as how are we going to improve what we got now and change things for the better and if you thought I had any ideas… well, I have some…
Since we appear to owe China a bundle due to all our borrowing from them we should stop complaining that all our used to be made here stuff is made there and just buy it and maybe they will finally realize that we have paid them back by being their BIGGEST AND BEST CONSUMERS OF THEIR PRODUCTS that have infiltrated our markets! DEBT PAID IN FULL! TA DA!
Next, drive less, and allow the concept of alternative energy sources meld into your brilliant minds as a possibility that should have happened, wait for it… YESTERDAY!
The deal that started this train of thought was the broken knives in our wooden block that we bought a few years ago from our local Publix grocery store and Hubby suggested that I contact Farberware and do my magic of getting our damaged goods taken care of…and you know what?
I just emailed them at their customer service department with a few pictures of the broken knives and they said to send them, at our cost to them and within four to six weeks they will send us back brand new ones at their expense since they have a lifetime warranty! TA DA AGAIN!
PS And it's not all the way to China; their customer service happens to be in good ole NJ, well at least we have some jobs still here, huh?
On that note of think about what we can do about our woes economically as individuals then we may have our own problems solved, hmm?
And now allow me to wish you all a very happy good night and kindly ask you to count those blessings and share all those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Could an Italian designer mean that we have sprung from our depression into joy?
Historically, when the world wore color the times were happier.
And so I have come to a hopeful conclusion that what occurred at the Target online store site was a truism proving my point.
“Missoni is an Italian fashion house based in Varese. It is famous for its unique knitwear, made from a variety of fabrics in colourful patterns. The company was founded by Ottavio ("Tai") and Rosita Missoni in 1953.” Thanks to Wikipedia.
Previously the Missoni line was only for the wealthy and sold at stores such as Saks in only the best fabrics, and still does, but always known for its signature “Missoni knitwear is known for its multitude of patterns such as stripes, geometrics, and abstract florals, in a kaleidoscope of colours. They are also known for the liberal use of many different fabrics such as wool, cotton, linen, rayon and silk.” Thanks again from Wikipedia. Many patterns were inspired by tapestries from all over the world.
And so when a reasonably priced Missoni line began selling online yesterday via Target within six hours the site crashed, sales were supposed to continue for three days, but so many wanted it all and decided that the first day was the day to make their purchases of all the different types of products available from stationery, clothing, pillows, to boots, totes, etc. for the first time at prices the middle class could feel good about, well the rest is fashion, now, considered ‘Black Tuesday’, history! HA! And oh what a feeling!
It does a soul good to see that much interest in something’s so happy!
The line screams with good cheer, as color should!
Yes, my fashion background sprung into action on hearing the reports of all this… and also my remembrance of what used to be the norm in times of a depression from my costume history classes what a war period’s usual was. Clothing represents the feelings of our nation, dull and drab was the way we dressed for three of the four wars of the last century and that was how we felt as a nation, misery.
The only reason during the Viet Nam War that wasn’t quite the case is because many were confused on how to feel, but that is just my opinion. But even you would have to admit with flower power, free love and florals and geometric patterns abounding on almost just about anything in many, not only at homes decorated with those, but also on clothing and artful prints, even on cars or many a VW bus!
The tone of a nation can and has been expressed by how we dress and therefore decorate our homes. YES!
Emotions are directly connected to color, think of black for funerals, white for weddings, and wild colors in times of just showing you are HAPPY about something special in your life!
I love that the bad economy in the news at times has been disproved of what so many of us are doing with buying products that in desperately hard times are nonessentials but make good and profitable business sense by keeping the retailers going … and for our own sakes might even become collector’s items in the future!
Who knows but when people rally for a non-profit organization or disaster drive for funds beyond belief that amazes me with all that our country is dealing with financially and then to become a bit frivolous but economically smart to shop to directly help the retail market is beyond words and I can see the clouds lifting off of our sad collective lives! And for that I applaud loudly! Keep it going America! We can do this together… shop!
I knew things always seemed the darkest before the dawn… and now hooray we may be dawning, ya think?
Moving on…
Hubby installed my corner shelves in the kitchen we purchased Sunday from the Home Depot for less than it would have cost to make them from scratch, see sometimes you just gotta think that way… and we even figured it numerically. To make four rounded finished white shelves would have been like forty-eight bucks but this was just a bit over thirty, how about that? See being consumers can be fun and frugal. Do not adjust your picture, it only looks crooked due to the photographer, me, I seem to be doing that alot lately!
Still working on what I will place on the shelves, right now those items are my space holders, heaven knows I have lotsa of things to chose from…maybe I will change them out and decide after I play with them awhile, we all know I have too much time on my hands… but Hubby has to do the rearranging since I can’t reach, but he does too, have time on his hands…ha!
On that wee bit of silly allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and ask you to kindly count all your blessings and share all your overages and we will too!

Awaken to reality, no way to escape what's, what...
Had an unexpected email from someone that I had not heard from in quite some time, it was my old chum who used to be my bestie for forty-one years until our falling out back in June of ’04. She is still a northerner and lives in the north western territory of good ole NJ in the woods on ten acres with waterfalls and ponds etc. in a beautiful cedar contemporary with spiral staircase et all. The message was brief but telling it all…
“I just wanted you to know that I don't go on those social network sights, only Facebook for the Clerk's Assn. I belong to. I wasn't ignoring you. (I had invited her to join)
I had alot of property next to the stream wash away after Irene, one small bridge was damaged but the house and the big bridge held up fine. Some people in town weren't so lucky.
How are things by you?”
What should one say to that?
Well, you all know me…
I wrote back a short essay, well not really short more like a novella which was not at all brief relaying my understanding what she went through since I had been there not long ago myself, blah, blah, blah and of course I took her question about how are things as an opening to answer specifically everything that has happened since I last heard from her, not seven years ago since we have been in touch this year in fact only a few months ago I believe…
And ended with letting her know our thoughts are with her and her family.
But I did something bad… I let her know that after our horrendous experience with Hurricane Charley in 2004 that our cousins and our one son, number one and his then girlfriend and her friends and another friend of mine helped after we were devastated with the downed trees and house pieces cleanup. And that number two son never ever called and that Hubby’s sister just called to see if we were alive and then hung up, but no other NJ friends or relatives called to check on us, hmm…not totally true, a few did that we still hear from to this day, but I meant you know who… (Her) and then I told her that I had been wondering how they had faired and was honestly happy that it was not worse for them, but I felt it was none of my business to ask. AHAH bad me! Conflicting messages, hmm? The devil made me do it!
You see from the age of thirteen we had been through dating, weddings, births, deaths, sicknesses you name it and this was one of those times that should have been of concern by each of us, and so I foolishly waited to hear from her, while monitoring the news and hoping that she and her family were OK. It’s just as bad with Hubby’s Mom since his sister won’t talk to us and his Mom is unable due to her severe dementia… they live in Bucks County Pennsylvania but again the news is upfront and our only way of knowing what’s what…
To be honest it is good to know when someone is OK, but I felt so hurt that long ago time by two of the people I held in so much high regard that it cut through me like a knife with their seemingly lack of concern, our younger estranged son who she sided with when we had that falling out that caused all that heartache back then and still now… with our son not interested in changing any of this… we keep trying and selfishly that is one of the reasons I was hopeful to renew our friendship, since to my jealously they have continued to communicate, her with our estranged son!
It tears my heart out.
Sorry!
It’s in me to want to forgive them and I have in my heart, but who can ever forget that type of hurt?
On that not so positive note, of do as I say not as I do allow me to be the first to wish you a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count all your blessings and to ask you to kindly to share those overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Change of topic...gotta its way too heavy and it’s not my brotha, HA!
SOUND OFF!
What did you do today?
I personally yelled a bit and got into some people’s faces, not literarily but via phone land line ways…Why, you ask?
A few weeks ago if you recall I went to Hubby’s doctor when told that the initial cost would be such and such, yes $100 which is high but not more than many others wanted to charge for a first visit. Then after the agreed upon amount would be $70 if I needed to follow-up in the future, only $10 more than I was paying to see a nurse at the Health Department so I felt it was a good deal in the long run and he is an M.D.
Today, the mail came with a few bills, phone, expected, but three medical bills too!
Two were for Hubby and he has insurance and has been paying his co-pays as he goes along, which he should do, and they have been as little as five bucks or as much as thirty dollars and so we felt that was good and done with! (Oops I used another preposition, oh my!)
Any-who, once his Cardiology bill was discussed, one of the bills, it was found out that they posted it to a different procedure that he thought was covered and this newer amount was for a totally different one that he thought he had paid for with the whole thirty dollars now they required thirty more bucks which is doable. His second medical bill was the hospital bill which they stated that they received payment when called its billing had overlapped with the insurance company’s payment and so it was not needed to be paid and the billing department was premature in sending it, see always check when not sure. Mine on the other hand was confusing to me since it also had the cardiologists name on it and I had NOT seen a cardiologist, but oddly enough it showed I had already paid one hundred dollars for a preliminary visit and the balance of $61 was due!
A light bulb went off with my quick temper right behind it!
The internal medicine doctor was working with the cardiologists now in the same building… and so I said to their billing department that the agreed upon amount was the one hundred that I already paid and I would not be willing to pay anymore since I would have never gone in the first place for $161! And so the woman said if that is what you were told then it’s OK! And that’s that, the moral of the story when in doubt, check it out!
I don’t really think I was that nasty but I also didn’t let them think I was stupid either.
Bookkeeping is a part of any good business acumen program and I had years of doing that by experience in the field for over thirty years, actually forty if you count doing your own home books!
You see, when we get older people on occasion some do take advantage of that fact with not always such good intentions and so when I was still among the youngins in my forties, about twenty years ago give or take a few years I had the privilege of working with seniors as a volunteer and discussing scams with them and not to be too trusting since their trusting nature seems to be at times a minor flaw when dealing with persons without scruples.
There appears to be an entire generation who feels that way, ordinarily that would be a good thing, but on occasion it is not and it is in those times that are worrisome.
I guess you could say I am at the age where some may try to do that to me.
And oddly enough when you are in a wheel chair, on a mobility scooter or have one blind eye you are more than susceptible to that way of thinking no matter how old you are. When some think your brain has gone the way of your physical being, but no not happening, not ever! I do hope, at least not yet…! HA!
On that positive glimmer of what I still am…allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count all your blessings and share all those overages and remember that when you can, you are still good and you, and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear?

Too much to say and not enough words to say it with...
Sadly we cry inside and out, our hearts are heavy today as every year we need to remember our sorrow of this day of infamy on its tenth anniversary not unlike another that drove us to the same decisions and emotions on December 7. 1941.
Even us, who may have not been born yet, remember the meaning of what occurred on that fateful day and of course FDR’s speech that brought us to resolution of what could be done and how to do it.
Many great and heroic people have steered our land into what we needed to feel the power of our own freedom and safety once again and none should ever be forgotten.
Much like those who lost their lives on that day 9/11/01 they have traded our fear for freedom and hope and in response they too should be regarded in high esteem and so it has been part of our repetitive history of this nation sorrowfully time after time.
But who amongst us in this world when looking in their past has not realized the same or similar fate of all nations with people not respecting others?
When will we learn to come together and stop this hate!
Now in our twenty-first century we all should now know that it gets us nowhere to behave in such ways any longer… it frustrates me of the dignified age of half a century plus eleven.
Why must we have to be taught to be nice and loving and understanding and accepting of each other?
Am I the only one who knows why this all happens?
NO!
We all do know that most wars are fought because people will not accept others for who they are!
Over and over again we must learn to accept people and love our differences.
But I am hopeful that we are going to be better at this world love thingy, because we have to try since this is the only world we got!
Never ever forget what happened but don’t let it polarize you into hate without hope!
Do any of you recognize this? What it is?
It is a
, yes a slap band on Hubby’s wrist, my model, that 80% of the purchase price goes to the non-profit!
But for all of us to think about what it represents and this one in particular is actually for Saint Jude’s Hospital for their children’s cancer research center; it was purchased today at Chili’s restaurant where they have other items available too.
They have a lovely sign inside that let’s you know that they are willing to help your organization also, now that’s a great beginning for mankind! Isn’t that what we are supposed to do? Help each other?
YES!
So use those talents where they will do the most good and help someone in respect for what today really means, our world is shrinking and that we are all our neighbors so be kind to them!
Love, peace and caring be with you and yours!
And so with something to snack on in your fertile brains allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count all your blessings and share all those overages, since being alive is one, and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!

Bad day, had plans had to cancel...weird happenings...
Have you ever felt like each of your extremities had been freezing?
I know, sure we all have that if we lived in a northern climate and in fact I did live in the cold longer (New Jersey) than in this warmth in Florida…
You see, I was freezing so severely in my hands and feet with shivering and teeth chattering and all that that I had to put on socks and turn the air-conditioning all the way up and get in bed with three blankets covering me, crazy? Thankfully, Hubby was here to help with all that. While Skipper sat vigil on the bed with me, first across my pillow on my head then on my freezing feet, he instinctively seems to know when I am not right, although some may argue that’s all of the time….bud, dump, bum…
Hubby checked my vitals; and my blood pressure was within the normal range as well as my pulse… the only thing that was slightly off was my temperature it was up to 100.6 not too bad by any standards but worthy of monitoring due to the other nasty symptom.
The whole thing started when just about to sit down to eat lunch around noon and lasted for less than three hours, downright weird, hmm?
I thought perhaps I got stung of something since I am allergic to bee stings but no bees inside, but the reaction almost came across as an allergic reaction… Hubby did look up online by surfing what it could be, and it did say that it could be the beginnings of a viral or bacterial infection.
I reassured him that we have that prescription of Amoxicillin still that the doctor switched to the Z-pack that time, and so if an emergency arises we have that covered.
But no, after a while I got out of bed and Hubby made me some green tea and that is why I had to get out of bed, I spill everything if I try to drink or eat there; we have used our lap tray on the lounge chair in the living room for me there since it is easier for Hubby and the kitchen is adjacent to it. I felt well enough to ask for another tea.
It really did warm me from the inside out.
As I realized that Hubby was feeling the heat since according to our indoor thermometer it was now 84 degrees inside! And I still was wearing the three blankets and shivering a wee bit, but I slowly after downing the two teas experimented with removing one blanket at a time, in about half hour intervals.
And surprising after a while I began feel better and decided to finish my lunch, my temperature was going down, now at 99.9, and last taken right on target of 98.6 and so I put the thermometer away and wondered what had happened, really odd, huh?
Any-who here I sit hours later after eating dinner and barely feeling any remnants of the ills that were pretty close to a hospital admittance in fact Hubby had mentioned it, but I am OK now and I do hope that was just an aberration or some such thing, a fluke, who knows…Heaven knows I got enough going on normally with all my other stuff so who needs more, really?
And tomorrow Hubby and I will do what we were going to do today, maybe and I will report back here, all righty now… on this strange unexplained episode, tis the season coming up next month, huh?
Allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you to kindly count all your blessings and to share all those overages and we will too!

Crafty for you...
Tonight I thought that I would share two other projects that Hubby and I completed in a very short time in less than two days!
The two items are rather useful and reasonable to make, especially Hubby’s a trivet from wine corks that we saved and a very reasonable picture frame.
The frame was purchased from the Trash and Treasure store at the Cultural Center that we went to yesterday and it was on sale for 50% off its already good price of $2.50 and so, everybody… now wait for it…. it was just a buck and a quarter! TA DA! Here’s it from start to finish from its humble beginnings…
a nautical frame in need of cleaning and disinfecting and Hubby took care of it all in his workshop in the garage then he applied an aluminum backing after the nasty card board was removed, also little cork feet.
I chose the idea of the herringbone pattern and the finished product is here amongst trivet row at our prep station! Looks like a keeper to me, how about you?
Next my mini project that I had thought of months ago a sign in our guestroom that added to the welcoming feeling we wanted in that room.
I had already made my ‘Home sweet home’ sign, and live, love and laugh one and so… I thought it would also be nice to have one that stated what the actual room was for…’SWEET DREAMS’!
Mine may have been a bit not too cost effective since the rectangular plaque from Jo-Anne’s fabric and crafts was $2.99, but no discount but that wasn’t the costly part though… it was getting those wooden letters that at first seem fairly realistic pricing at 99 cents a bag full, but only five per bag per letter and we needed eleven letters! Yep, for total for the plaque and letters just under twelve bucks!
In spite of the non thriftiness of this project I thought you might want to see it anyway, hmm?
What you thought I would make it that simple? Nah, that’s not me I used clip art from this word program and shrunk and printed each one I chose and then cut out lastly decoupage them on, then I painted those letters a bright apple green and…by sticking them in a bowl of paint, the easy way and then wood glued them on!
And then asked Hubby if he could hang it above the closets across from the bed in the guestroom! Voila, all done!
I don’t know if you like it, but that doesn’t matter what matters is that I do! LOL!
And sure I hope our guests do too…
On that thought of trying to distract myself from reality in this too hard to handle world at times… Allow me to be one of the first to wish you a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count all your blessings and to share all your overages and we will too!

If you were paid to do something you love that might be considered a hobby would you still love it?
Some may suggest that it is a stupid question for most, right?
I don’t know about you, but I would!
I can hear all of you yelling …ME TOO!
Let’s face it our dream job would be that sort of thing doing what you love and even getting reimbursed…Whoa, that’s definitely a no brainer!
Have you ever thought if you had that option what YOU would LOVE to be paid to do?
Get your mind out of the gutter! LOL!
Other than what comes naturally to most ADULTS of age even the younger ones who should really wait. No, what I mean is a talent or ability, and no, I do not consider what you are thinking a talent or ability, more like a normal human nature urge or itch to be scratched…but I digress…
Any-who, what we all should do if not in the employment of yourself or others is to come up with a list of ‘what ifs that I could do well and get paid for things that you know someone out in the real world might need.’
And then like a barter system for other services contact people you know that may know someone else who knows someone that could make use of that!
Too confusing?
We all have skills, whether it is organizational, or perhaps an exact ability to make or create something or maybe to talk or write or how you handle people or whatever is marketable… don’t laugh; some very profitable businesses could use you and for what some may consider not so obvious skills but quite useful!
Resumes are mostly too specific, with previous jobs and education, but not discussing you and how you roll (take on the world), without enough gray areas enclosed.
We as humans have knowledgeable competence in certain arenas that we need to project into the public scheme of things and with that allowing others to utilize our talents for their needs. Let’s face it, if we don’t tell them, how will they know? So go ahead and brag a little!
And EUREKA then you may very well find yourself to be employed before you know it!
Personally when I hired people I always asked the obvious why they wanted to work for us and what they had to offer our particular business from their own abilities and previous experience.
Many were not prepared for that sort of question, but I must add try to be open minded at an interview, and unlike me, think before you talk!
But not too long since occasionally, in some fields, a slow response is not so desirable when you’re expected to think quickly on your feet!
Crazy, yep, I know, or I should say I do remember.
Be well rested and well dressed appropriately for the type of position you go for.
Different fields require different wardrobes.
Offices, business smart.
Stores, fashion savvy.
Advertising or promotion, slick and casual but also fashion savvy.
And so whatever and wherever you go try and find some info on the company by Googling or surfing the net however you usually do to get that info and learn what you can and bring it up when appropriate at the interview. They will be impressed that you went the extra mile to find out about them, plus you will know how solvent they are and if they are legit…in this day and age one can not be too careful, can we?
In closing all I would like to say the president is about to give his speech tonight on jobs (PLEASE GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE!) and all of you out there still looking I wish the very best of luck in finding what you need to survive and love what you do and get financially reimbursed for that joy of being useful for profit! Get your mind out of the gutter!
On that silly note of just trying to do my part to help lessen the weight of the world on your shoulders by becoming a wee bit lighter allow me to be the first to wish you all a very happy good night and to ask you kindly to count all your blessings and to share all your overages and we will too!
And next time please be here or be square, ya hear!
