Kim Novak was being interviewed live tonight ...

I know me too, I thought Kim Novak died years ago; but she didn’t….she is still alive and well at 76, and this kid could not possibly be her in the interview that was live tonight on my local news! The only reason I was mistaken was because the first Kim Novak hasn’t been in any movies since 1991, oops my bad.
Well, this one was a college co-ed, also a blonde, and she was being asked her opinion on student teacher fraternizing, to be more specific…dating and I believe she thought it was not a good idea.
I wonder what the original model, Kim Novak would have said if asked?

Interestingly, there is a whole generation, next, of some of those popular previous used or as I like to call them in this day and age, recycled names…why even our younger son went to school with a singing and acting fellow also named, Robert Goulet, would you believe? And our son is only 33 now. The original Robert Goulet lived circa 1933 – 2007, and will be most fondly remembered for his role in Camelot, I am sure.

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Shakespeare’s Juliet pondered.

Although, you got to hand it to some today on originality, names of fruit or inanimate objects are hard to put on a kid for his or hers moniker for into perpetuity, or they always can legally change it? But why; I ask why do that to them in the first place?

Having somewhat of an unusual name myself, I suppose I refused to go the too creative route with our sons’ names and so theirs are much more commonly accepted ones. The best part of that is they both are happy with our choices.

It’s true that a name like your appearance in a true and just society should not cause what you are inside to blind anyone to the real you and your abilities, and worthiness for employment, but let’s face it, it does. People are judgmental especially when you’re being thought of for a job. We as employers want the total package …intelligence, a clean neat appearance and would prefer a name of a person instead of a fruit, like just say, Banana or Cornflakes, or even Comforter?
Now does that sound right to you?
No, of course not, but some think it is just fine or cute or both.

I bet you know a person who has one of those recycled names, Sam Davis, comes to mind…Marion Wayne, or Duke, or John?
Well, maybe not any of those but you got the idea.
At least it’s not as weird as some of those last names I had mixed emotions about repeating while a young credit manager…someone actually had the last name of a men’s room toilet appliance, and was that embarrassing to say as a 21 year calling the woman…Mrs. Urinyl, as the maker is my witness that was her real name!

Take care, good night, be safe, and count your blessings and I will continue to look for mine.
